This is such a look-ist show. That blonde wasn’t really any better a singer than the “boob boxing” girl, but they think she’s “interesting,” and the big girl is just joke fodder. ---

16 year old Blondie was very, very good. Boxing Boobies could be good too, if she concentrated on singing instead of overcompensating for not being a 16 year old Blondie. ---

She wasn’t _way_ better, and I’m not sure she was really _any_ better since she had a weaker voice. I still think a lot of hotties go through with mediocre voices, while fatties and uggos basically have to be able to sing like Jennifer Hudson to get through. I also think that the show does make a habit of mocking people based on looks. it’s much kinder and gentler to people who are attractive, unless they’re too slutty. Then they’re mocked for that. ---

One of the rejected contestants said “they were wrong about Jennifer Hudson…” but the judges all like J Hud, they desperately wanted John Stevens gone, but they couldn’t do anything about all those smitten little girls dialing for him and not dialing for Jennifer Hudson. Chances are if the judges don’t even advance you one round, you flat out can’t sing. ---

Then they’re mocked for that. If you played back the first girl I think you would find she wasn’t even really singing so much as pretending to sing. She picked a weird song to try and hide her inability to carry a tune. And she mocked herself. The judges didn’t tell her to keep shoving her chest. Her whole schtick was terrible. Your premise about looks might be correct, but you picked the wrong two women to support it. ---

Then they’re mocked for that. To clarify, I thought you meant the other blonde with the curly hair who I thought _was_ way better. 16 y.o. blonde was marginally better. Boxing Boobs was annoying and clearly going nowhere on AI, IMO. ---

I’m not saying I thought the big girl was particularly good, or should have gone through, but there’s a distinct difference in the way they treat the marginal singers based on looks. If a super hottie can carry a tune at all, they go through. ---

Hm. I though the first blonde was good but there was something very music class about her… like she changed notes without really smoothly sliding into them, it was all very precise in a way that reminded me of a piano student plunking through a tune. The girl who did “Summertime” did have a small voice but sounded pleasant enough. Both should have at least gone on to Hollywood, no way the boob boxer belongs there. ---

Is it probable that we will see any of these guest judges as “mentors” doing the finals? FTR, my DVR is showing Kristin Chenoworth tomorrow. Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry are guest judges next Tuesday. and Neil Patrick Harris and Joe Jonas next Wed And I have no idea who Kristin Chenoworth and Katy Petty are. ---

Krisin Chenowith is a broadway star who’s best known for Glenda on Wicked, but she’s also been on Pushing Daisies and Glee. She can sing the hell out of a song. Katy Perry is Katy Perry. She’s a pop star, was on Idol last season. ---

I liked Polly Boob Girl. I liked the way she flipped her hair back and I like that she took rejection with grace. As for her singing, I just played it back and she sounded fine – not pitchy, on key, not bad at all. Not a great song choice though, and her own fault that they didn’t take her seriously.
