_Loved_ the Anita Baker girl. (Love Anita Baker, and I am glad some young kids know her music. Not enough altos in the world, IMHO.) … _Anyway_, Simon is seriously _totally_ on the rag tonight. He’s gone tone deaf or something. If you’re so sick of the auditions – and these are some _REAL_ ones, even! – then just go take a nap or something. _Damn!_ He must not have gotten the case of Midol I sent. ---

It may have been that Simon had something personal going on. And although I do agree with him that the cute Asian girl did not conquer the song, I don’t see how he thought it was bad. And then there was that perfectly awful person he insisted was good. I think Paula and Randy calling him mean pissed him off. But you can never tell with reality shows. They tend to edit them in ways that suit the producers and not so much the truth. ---

I was _so_ not into that “best of the competition” girl. But man am I tired of the Texan with the guitar he can barely play but thinks he’s in some movie like Walk the Line and he’s just cutting his teeth for a few scenes then he’ll be a big star and banging Reese Witherspoon in his spare time. Even the abundance of superior talent all around him doesn’t change his mind about his destiny. Absolutely. Most of these people with their “My dream is to sing and it’s my only goal” nonsense tend to be the worst singers, and they hate it when someone like Simon comes along and tells the truth. No doubt, they bought into the “Anything is possible” mantra years earlier. I wasn’t too blown away by most of the singers this time, though I thought the All Terrain Guy was at least entertaining. ---

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who was underwhelmed with last night’s show. I can’t say that I blame Simon for being pissy. I mean, Paula and Randy rag on him all the time for being mean, but it’s okay for Randy to tell a guy his act belongs in a circus? Come on! I think Simon was right to call him on it. And I want to know if Randy saw Katherine audition before or after Paris, or if he just has a bad case of amnesia. The best they’ve heard so far in the competition? I think not. For one thing, she o-ver-e-nun-ci-a-ted the whole song. For another thing, she sounded vocal coached to death. I thought she was over-trained, like a pet monkey. Aaaand, now I’m starting to sound like Simon (who it surprised me liked that girl so much). Who wants to bet that Katherine is the girl who walks out during Hollywood week? By the way, I hadn’t read any posts in this thread since yesterday aftenoon and wanted to say that **Diogenes the Cynic** was right on. Nicely done! ---
