Sounds like a dessert choice at the Roadkill Cafe.

OK, I was really annoyed with all the Spice Rack promos, and Spice Rack her bad ol’ self…but “nasty underwear with bits of coochie hangin’ out” made it all worthwhile.

I was going to give Paris mad props for even having _heard of_ Billie Holliday, at her age. I guess she was raised right.

Foster Home had me all verklempt until she forgot about her own kids. Meh. She’s dead to me now.

And Randy was the Most Annoying One this week, laughing at the Note Holder. And laughing. And laughing. It wasn’t that funny; Just Shut Up and let him go away.

They were all annoying during note-holder’s audition. He was such a sweet guy, too, and took it all so well. That ho-bag Rhonetta could have learned a thing or two from him about accepting rejection gracefully.

I know this was a rhetorical question, but there is a real answer to it, nonetheless. Since you said you were reading, and therefore probably not paying too close attention, you may have missed that Paris is the granddaughter of [Ann Nesby](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47E17DC49A97220C7932B43C0A67FA458FE4AED81106E495AD1A930499F0563F240A4C6CFB4E577B479A9B32FA5500AD7C0ED52ECAD1B&searchlink=ANN%7CNESBY&uid=CAW060601251154&samples=1&sql=11:q698s39ya3ng~T1) of [Sounds of Blackness](http://www.soundsofblackness.com/) fame (WARNING: link has embedded background music that starts when the page loads). This girl is wonderful – a breath of fresh air. I really, really hope she doesn’t choke in front of the live audience, or screw up in some other way.

I may have missed it earlier in the thread, but didn’t anyone else like the cowboy guy who sang “Broken Road” (the first one, not the second one)? I can’t recall his name, but I thought he had a wonderful voice and could make it pretty far in this competition (I can almost envision a final 2 with him and Paris). Or was I delusional because it was after midnight before I got a chance to watch my tivo, and he really sucked?

I forgot to say: I am _very_ smitten with Tyra Schwartz.

And who knew there were so many gay people in North Carolina?
and by “gay”, I mean “peg my not-very-realiable gaydar”. We know nothing about anyone’s actual sexual preference.

Bow down, motherfuckers!

Paris is amazing. I’d like to see her in the final three. She’s got the voice, the poise, and the cuteness. And she had pink shoes with her sweet, age-appropriate outfit.

Yes, he took it very well. Except for the part where he smashed Paula’s DVD with a hammer (and if this was all a clever plug as another poster mentioned, why was the cover of the DVD blurred?)

About Simon and GLAAD, I’m thinking perhaps they’ve looked at all of the audition AI episodes and added them up to equal Simon is a gay-basher. Telling the guy on the first day to shave his beard and wear a dress, laughing at Zack the Wonderboy (as in, I wonder if-- although I don’t remember Simon saying much to him. It’s Randy that asked “Are you a boy or a girl.”) and the previews show Simon telling another make-up faced man with 5 o’clock shadow that he looks like “The Hulk’s mother”— from the shot they showed of the auditioner, Simon was not too way off. Mean? Yea, but not inaccurate.

And did he bring along a hammer _just in case_??

Simon must be right that after a gallon of liquor, anyone sounds good, or how are these people winning singing contests??

You know, I didn’t even realize until Paula told him to get into modeling instead. Then I thought, “Girl’s right, he’s pretty hot!”

Yes, you are correct. As was mentioned in [post #148](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=7033478&postcount=148), Billie Holliday had died before that song was even recorded. She died on July 17, 1959, and “Take Five” was still being recorded for Brubeck’s album [_Time Out_](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47E17DC49A97220C7932B43C0A67FA458FE4AED81106E495AD1A930499F0563F240A4C6CFB4E577B479A9B32CAE5A06D9C8ED469CA1&sql=10:7fd7gjlr86ix) sometime between June 25, 1959 and August 18, 1959, and was strictly instrumental at that time. Lyrics weren’t added until [Carmen McRae recorded it](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47E17DC49A97220C7932B43C0A67FA458FE4AED81106E495AD1A930499F0563F240A4C6CFB4E577B479A9B32CAE580CD9C9E8469CA1&sql=10:o2jyea104xf7) in September 1961, while performing _Take Five Live_.

If this woman (and I use the term loosely) isn’t completely delusional and possibly a danger to society or at least Paula Abdul, then she was playing them in order to get a bunch of air time and what she may want to be is an actress. In either case I don’t think it’s a good idea to give her the attention she got. What was her problem with Paula anyway? Did I miss Paula making some nasty comment? I thought Paula was extremely nice to her considering the way that chick acted.

I also though Fireboy had pluched his eyebrows and was wearing makeup.

As for all the airplay that Rhonetta got ---- perhaps they were borrowing a producer from the Jerry Springer show?

And Paris is far and away the most talented person I have ever heard on that show. I wonder if she can handle the stress of it, though. She handled herself wonderfully through the audition, but seemed to fall apart afterwards. And, honestly, with that much talent, I wonder why she would lock herself into the sucky contracts AI offers its contestants.

I can just picture the AI producers…there are some people who walk into an audition, and they jump up and say “keep a camera on that one until she gets on the bus home. Guaranteed 10 minutes of Pure Gold footage.”

Unfortunately, talent isn’t always the only consideration for breaking into show business. The art of politics is often as important as the art of performing. Right place right time and sheer blind luck play a role as well.
