I finally figured out who Crazy Tatiana is reminding me of - remember the batshit crazy girl, Julie Lawry, in the miniseries for “The Stand” (played by Shawnee Smith)? That’s her! All smiles and happy and rolling in the hay one minute, and shooting at you from a window the next. I think all my faves got through. WooT! ---

I was mainly wondering how many donuts they had in Hollywood, because it seemed to me a lot of people got chunky between auditions and the Chair. (And of course I mean “chunky” in the Hollywood not-emaciated way, none of these people [even the fat ones] were not by any stretch “fat” by real-people standards, just so we’re clear.) The ones I noticed were “Identity crisis” Kristen’s double chin, Tatiana’s junk in the trunk and Drama-Queen Nathaniel packed into those red stovepipe jeans, but I know there were more. I think a few months passed between the Hollywood rounds and the Mansion, so it seemed everyone fattened up for winter, or something. I’ll grit my teeth and put up with Tatiana because they put Nick/Norman through. I just love him more every day! My theory is that Tatiana and Nathaniel squeaked through because TPTB wanted fodder to keep the Vote for the Worst people occupied while the show goes about the business of competition for everyone else. Also it seems to me the level of talent is nowhere near what they had last year (no Michael Johns or Carly Smithsons in this bunch) so they’ve opted to pump up the drama. Sigh. I agree with Simon that tall, married attractive blonde was better AND more interesting than the nervous, double-chinned attractive blonde that they put through. I’m a little disappointed they didn’t put friend-of-Dead-Wife-Guy through but I can’t say I’ll miss that thing in his face, especially after he got ANOTHER random piercing since Hollywood. All my faves got in except for horror boy. He was so little and cute like a ladybug, but I admit the other guy sang better. If they were trying to fill the David Archuleta slot, they made the safe move. I didn’t watch season 2 so I’m really interested in how the wild card rounds will go. Could potential wild card contestants come from people who were cut at the chair or only people voted off from the top 36? ETA **Tamara+** : Toot toot! 😃 ---

I can’t believe they put dead-wife-guy and Anoop in the same group! If I were another guy in there I’d be pissed, although knowing my luck one of those two will get sent home, seeing as how they’re my absolute favorites. I also love the nerdy guy who beat out the other young guy who looks like a girl. And of course, Norman Gentle. ---

Nick is boring. Norman is not funny. Neither of those personas is interesting in any way. AI is turning this into the Gong show, but I guess it’s good for ratings, from all the love everyone in this thread is showing for Nick/Norman. ---

My BF and I were thinking that the first rocker guy (Adam?) looked familiar and it was driving us crazy. Christ, Tatiana - does she take annoying pills or what? I think she will be “Most Likely to Stalk a Judge.” God, I wanted to trip her when she was running out screaming like a moron. Camp Gay Dude in Red Pants’ reaction was epic, though. I don’t see what’s interesting or funny about “Norman Gentle.” AI producers are playing with fire. Between him and Tatiana, they’re inspiring a new wave of losers to pull this same shit next year at the auditions. It’s mildly amusing, I guess, when they have some talent, but there are famewhores out there who see all the camera time these fools are getting, and they’re going: “Oh, I’ll try that next year!” On the other hand, AI judges deserve that stuff, so ha ha! ---

Tatiana is hilarious. That’s not an act, folks, she’s batshit for sure. Did anyone see Drama-queen flinch when she came into the waiting area, then screamed loudly after she was put through? My god, it was probably the funniest thing in the show’s history. I really don’t like the Drama-queen. He can’t keep his mouth shut and he’s usually saying something nasty or crying. There’s your VftW candidate. ---

If you’re not in the Top 36, you’re not going to be seen again this season (barring someone having to drop out and them needing a replacement). ---

I can’t believe Jamar was cut and Tatiana is in. When she’s voted off (soon I hope), she’ll start begging the audience for “one more chance” and she’ll start desperately singing random bits of songs - crazy runs trying to grasp something that’s not there for her. The show’s producers will have to go to black while she’s pulled off the stage, sobbing hysterically, screaming, “but this is what I want.” I had sympathy (just a little) when I thought she was 16 or so. The chick is 23. ---

I loved the reaction in the room when Tatiana came back in. For everyone else, there was applause, hugs, people got up & came over to congratulate them, etc. When she walked in, nobody could even look at her. ---

Was anyone else annoyed by the horrible editing on last night’s show? If you’re going to have Seacrest pretend that person X is going in at a certain time, then don’t show waiting room scenes a half-hour later that show that person hasn’t gone in yet. That waiting room went from full to empty to half-full to empty to full again about a dozen times. Particularly annoying was the welder/roughneck showdown, since they were “the last two remaining”. Then they come back to a half-room of contestants. If you’re going to try and manipulate the order for some sort of dramatic effect, then don’t obviously blow it every time someone walks back into the room…sheesh… ---

It occurs to me that Nick’s ‘Norman Gentle’ character is a riff on all of the Nathaniel Drama-Queen characters that have we’ve seen over the years. I think it would be hy-sterical to see Nathaniel perform and then ‘Norman’ come out and do the exact same performance, tears and all. Cruel and unusual punishment for sure, by hy-sterical.
