The commercials have been promising the best ever group for the Hollywood round. I’ll watch, at least. ---

I still like Rocker Chick, but she doesn’t stand a chance, with all the tweeners that multi-text with their networks of friends. The voting scheme is the greatest single flaw of the show, in my opinion. But of course I’ll watch, at least until I get really pissed off — like when Daughtry was voted off. I tuned out the rest of that season. ---

I think getting voted off was even better for Daughtry - look how well he’s done compared to some of the other “winners.” ---

This is my favorite part of Idol. I went to Mexico during Hollywood week of Season Five, and it was one of the few things in English that I could find on TV while my husband slept in. I set up a TiVo season pass as soon as I got home and haven’t missed an episode since, much to his (mostly feigned, as he now watches them all with me) chagrin. My favorites so far are the Aussie guy and Danny (“Proud Mary”) for the guys, and rocker chick and Cardin for the girls, as well as that sixteen-year-old girl who sang “My Funny Valentine.” Of course, the odds are slim that many of these make it past Hollywood, but I at least saw Aussie guy in a commercial, so I can hope he’s being reasonably pimped. ---

I saw in the previews that they’re going to allow the contestants to play instruments. Thank God! I’ve been wondering when they were going to spice up the formula, and I bet we’ll see some really awesome performances from people who are really in their element singing with their guitar/piano/flute. (OK, kidding about flute. But I’d pay money to see it.) ---

Hooked On A Feeling just makes me smile. 🙂 With or without the ooga-chukas. I remember an episode of the muppet show that had (whoever did this song) guest starring and singing it surrounded by fishy muppets, swinging on a giant hook in an undersea motif. Awww… ---
