I’m still having trouble putting names/faces/performance together, but here are my predictions for keepers tonight:
**MEN:** [ul]
[li]Mario[/li][li]Constantine[/li][li]Scott Savol (aka POTAB)[/li][li]the guy who auditioned with “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”[/li][/ul]
**WOMEN:** [ul]
[li] naive farm girl [/li][li]16-year-old bubbly girl (Is that a Bronx accent?)[/li][li]the heavy-lidded pretty one with long wavy hair (a la pre-cut Felicity) – she’s gotten no airtime the past 2 weeks but is still in the competition[/li][li]the one who’s had a cold since the day they arrived in CA[/li][/ul]
Did the tall thin black woman with the big Afro-esque hair make the cut Tuesday?

Do you mean Rasheeda? I’m pretty sure she didn’t make it, sadly. I think she was in the first room that got eliminated. I liked her, too.

I can’t believe the guy who was obnoxious during the group performance and then performed an original song got through. Can’t stand that guy.

For guys, I think Anwar, Scott Savol, Mario Vasquez, and Constantine are in for sure.
For girls, I think we’ll see Carrie Underwood, Mikayla (or whatever horrendous spelling it is), tall afro girl (if she’s still in) and Vonzell (is that her name?).

I think I like Mikayla a little better after last night’s show. She was a little more low-key and her confidence wasn’t as overwhelming as it was before. She’s growing on me!

I thought a saw a tall girl with big afro hair in the last room that got through.

Yay! I like her. She has a great voice and personality to boot. Now I hope she doesn’t get “the chair.”

I believe after next week the site will put up their names and snippets of their performances. You’ll be able to put the names, faces and performances together.
I, on the other hand, will continue to refer to them as Country Girl, Full Metal Jacket Guy and The Small Spanish Guy because I’m quite stupid, really.

> As far as I remember, we were just introduced to her this show, but I am quite glad to see Aaa’sshia’aaa’a the chipmunk with a 'tude go.

Golly, she bugged. I looked over at my partner when she started singing and we both went in the refrain “Christmas, Christmas time is near. Time for toys and time for cheer.” Ugh. What was funny is that Seacrest called her style original when she was totally macking a _Corey Feldman 'a la Michael Jackson_ vibe. Oh the layers!

The guy that really freaked me out was the “Forehead Man”. I don’t remember my name, just his ad-space-for-sale forehead that was enhanced by combing the hair forward on the sides. Creepy.

I’m glad that the chubby crying gay crooner made it and not the poseur with the bad hat. He was a one trick pony and became a parody of himself when he started to skat (scat is more a propos) with his air trumpet.

And to the guy that wrote his own song “Shake” (or whatever it’s called). Shut up. Stop writing and take a diction class, dammit.

The fact that he sang an original is probably what got him through.

Let’s put it this way: If you made it this far, you can sing. Some better than others, but all these folks have a voice. What they’re looking to do at this point is find the folks who have a little something extra, or who are willing to take a chance.

Look at the “Room 2” group. We had (and I apologize in advance for my inability to remember any of these people’s names):

1. The “Shake” guy – showed he’s got writing ability.
2. The guy who sang _Mustang Sally_ – showed he was capable of working a crowd.
3. The guy who sang _Bohemian Rhapsody_ – that took some balls. Although he wasn’t the best singer, that was definitely not your typical _AI_ song, and he pulled it off.

In each of these cases, it was probably these facts and not necessarily their voices that made the difference in getting them to move on.

Everybody’s talking about how obvious it was, which rooms would stay. 😕 That second room sucked out loud. Atleast, the ones they featured in it. They didn’t suck as bad as the 2 rooms that got booted, but at the time I was shocked.

My favorites so far are:

chubby crying crooner guy
Bo Bice! Bo Bice!–rocker dude who won’t make it because Constantine will
Anwar–he’s just lovely to look at

Least favorites:

POTAB
the twin who made it

I think I’ve figured out half of the ones who will make it.

Male:

POTAB
Anatoliy–tracheotomy boy
Anwar–smooth voice and beautiful dreads (fine, I just want to ogle him. Is that so wrong?)
David Scott–handsome man also with dreadlocks, shorter than Anwar’s
Constantine–rooting for Bo Bice, though! Go Bo!
Mario–of the slouchy hat

Female:

Carrie–Farm girl
Lindsay? – woman who reminds me of Ashley Judd
Vonzell–this is the mail carrier, right?
Nadia–she of the bounteous 'fro
Jaclyn Crum – young sobbing girl
Mikayla – _sob_ Nooooooooo

I forgot to comment on that guy. It did take balls, and I just have to say that I’d actually like to hear a full version of his soul interpretation of the song. It was nothing like the original, but still great. When I recognized it in the first note or two, I braced for the worst. Completely at ease by the end of the song. Clever.

…Unlike the kid in auditions who sang “We Are the Champions” really awfully, and absolutely nothing like Freddie, though all three judges gushed about how the kid sounded JUST LIKE HIM.

…ya work hard, **ya get here on time** …and still get cut!

Aren’t those the bare minimum requirements for any gig??

What’s bugging me is all the talk about nervous breakdowns and instability among the contestants. Wait till it gets down to eight people before talking about the stress of the competition…it’s barely started for the people in it now.

::speaking safely from her easy chair at home 😉 ::

It’s ridiculous the way these people go to pieces over something as relatively trivial as not making the finals of American Idol.

If you look at their experience for what it is, it’s not that bad. They get a Hollywood vacation, they get to be on TV, they get a little validation and they have a great story to tell. Seriously, who couldn’t dine out for months just on making the top 44 of AI? They’re taking a once in a lifetime experience and turning it into a tragedy.

That was a good one. I’m happy that Mikayla made it through. Such a fiery spirit. I got a laugh out of her for chiding Simon when he mentioned that he didn’t mind this stage in the show. Also, her mother saying that she’s such a good girl, I highly doubt that. From a parental perspective she seems like a handful.

One thing between this show and the last that surprises me is the number of people who seem to plan their lives on winning in this show. Seems to me like using lottery winnings in finacial planning.

Oh, that was the other thing that I enjoyed, how previous shows weren’t edited to give it all away in this show. There were many contestestant who I didn’t know because they weren’t “featured” in previous shows. Well done, that aspect.

I think I’m hooked on this show. It’ll be interesting to see the format that the rest are in.
