They’re all pandering to the audience. If they said the song sucked they’d get called unpatriotic. I’m even paranoid enough to think they were given instructions from Murdoch himself to LOVE THAT SONG. ---

So when Simon ran out of Coke earlier, did anyone else notice Paula start to raise her cup to offer some of her “Coke” to Simon? He must have taken her up on the offer. That’s the only explanation I can think of for praising that performance and especially for praising that song! Or was that some of Simon’s reverse psychology in action? ---

That song has zero resemblance to the original. Changing the tempo is kosher. Changing the melody is not. ---
