The theme is Elvis, and the mentor is Adam Lambert. Which makes sense. And by that I mean “makes no sense whatsoever.” (because he does his hair in a pompadour sometimes? What?) ---

Listening to Adam Lambert makes my ears hurt. Looking at him makes me throw up in my mouth a little. (and no I am not anti-gay). so I wouldn’t go near AI tonight with the proverbial 10-ft pole. ---

_Adam Lambert_ is the mentor? Who the hell is he to coach anyone? And what will he coach them on: how to come in 2nd? How to be campy? How to oversing? (And I _like_ him, by the way!) Has a past AI contestant (not winner, mind you, just a contestant) ever been a mentor before? Are the pickin’s this slim? ---

It’s called “Promoting Adam Lambert”. My guess is that he’s still taking heat from his over-the-top performance at the Grammys, and so he’s going to come out all lovable-like and try to do some damage control. Anyway, he should be a great mentor. Don’t forget the guy has been around for quite a long time, singing and acting on Broadway (or off-Broadway? Can’t remember). So he’s not exactly a neophyte. And he can give them advice about the AI process itself that other non-contestants can’t do. I hope the first advice he gives is, “Whatever you do, minimize the role of that sucky band.” ---

no previous contestant has “mentored”. some visited during Hollywood weeks, but weren’t shown on air. It’s a slap in the face of all the other more established and/or more successful contestants, including actual winners. Not that it’s that important with a nuclear summit going on, but it still bugs me. The whoring & pimping of that guy never ends. The more someone shoves something at me, the more I want to push it away. ---

I think this is Crystal’s first bad performance – well not _bad_, exactly, just really flat and uninteresting. The back-up singers aren’t adding much. This is really mediocre. Usually I don’t bag on her actual performances, but this was really ordinary. The judges are such lying sacks of crap. That was NOT anything special. It was like one of Big Mike’s performances. Really straining for electricity and drama, but it just wasn’t there. Doesn’t matter, they’ve scripted her out as the winner, so the actual performances are irrelevant. ---

Garcia just continues to bury himself. This terrible, lounge version of “Hound Dog” should finally seal his fate. I don’t know why I ever though this guy had any edge. I guess I got fooled by the neck tat. ---

They had Quentin Tarantino and Miley Cyrus as mentors, surely he has more experience than they do. Adam’s smart, has years of show business experience, and made it to 2nd place in a nationwide popularity contest despite everyone knowing he’s gay (shows he can make smart choices and appeal to a wide audience when he wants). He’ll help the contestants. ---
