The show’s on right now in California, and Connie just finished. I’m posting for one reason and one reason only: last week, I believe promises were made, **Hal Briston**. But, once again, Mayor McCheese did his lame third-grade “call me” hand signal. This long national nightmare has to end. **Hal** , I’ve got you on the redeye out to LAX. My take on tonight’s performances: 1. **Vonzell** - picked a very difficult song with a few key changes and impressed me a lot 2. **Carrie** - crap song in original version but disco version okay, her vocals were very good with impressive power at the end. She is a really good singer but too apple pie for my liking. 3. **Bo** - he’s a rocker and thats all. Could front a band but pffft as a solo artist. 4. \*\*Scott \*\* - good song choice and nailed the vocals but still uninspiring 5. \*\*Constantine \*\* - he was my first pick last 2 outings, big slide 6. **Anthony** - he’s always in my bottom 3 and will likely remain there, nothing special 7. **Anwar** - tres blah, doesn’t inspire me at all ever Vonzell has to be the front runner after tonight’s impressive performance, she’s so versatile and has excellent range. ---

_My_ take on tonight’s performances: Top 2, in no particular order: **Vonzell, Bo.** I thought Bogart did really well, but Vonzell had a harder song. A hair below them was **Constantine.** Good vocals, but Maroulis missed a bet on the eyeshadow. Also voted for **Carrie.** Not really a Carrie fan, just disturbed at idea of her going home before the drips & leaving Vonzell as only girl in Top 6. Also trying not to penalize her for the fact that I hate that song. I wondered if **Anwar** would go this week, but he sounded surprisingly ok, as long as his fans don’t recognize the flat notes. **Anthony** has this huge, almost operatic projection, but his tone is eh. You know something? I just really don’t like **Savol’s** voice! This week I could really tell that. ---

OK, this has nothing to do with anything that actually happened, but I had a dream about “Idol” last night, and I wanted to share with you all, because misery loves company. In my dream, the theme was not “So-Called 70’s Dance Music” but “Songs By Canadian Artists.” (I don’t know.) Anyway, not that you care, but this is what everyone sang in my dream, in the order in which they appeared: **Bo** - “American Woman” by the Guess Who **Vonzell** - “I’m Like A Bird” by Nelly Furtado **Anthony** - “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” by Glass Tiger **Anwar** - “Hey Paula” by Paul Anka (I believe that even in my sleep this song made me gag) **Scott** - “Everything I Do (I Do For You)” by Bryan Adams (before he brought the suck) (Bryan Adams, not Scott, who always brings the suck) **Carrie** - “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion **Constantine** - “The Old Apartment” by Barenaked Ladies So, there you go. Try to get those visuals out of your head. Lord knows they can’t possibly be worse than what we saw last night, for the most part. You’re welcome. _(PS - No, I have no idea why I am dreaming about this show. Please do not ask. I am already seeking professional help.)_ ---

When I was [quite young] I loved Glass Tiger’s “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)”! It seems like a good song for Anthony! Assuming he could sing it. ---

When Constantcheesefart was performing, all I could hear was that SNL skit with Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. “_Talking it up…talking it up…on the Barry Gibb Talk Show_”. I even woke up with the song in my head. I don’t think I even know what the real words are. My mother called me immediately after Connie’s performance and said, “He’s my American Idol!” After a long pause on my end of the phone to try to decipher any sarcasm, I realized she wasn’t kidding. Me: :dubious: 😕 :eek: Anyway, I want to go on record and say that I love my husband very, very much, but Bo was very hot last night. My God! He definitely did the best job. If my husband can call Carrie “his girl”, then I can have Bo. I’d rather see Carrie not make me vomit, and do her country-rock crossover again, maybe a little Alanis (Thank U?) or Cowboy Junkies (though I don’t know which song to pick, maybe Misguided Angel). No, I found what would make me simply melt, Sarah McLachlan “Possession.” (Yeah, I know it’s a creepy stalker song, but it’s a HOT creepy stalker song) Connie would sing Tom Cochrane’s “Life Is A Highway.” No doubt, works too well. Mildly rock while still being soft. Bo woul be great on Guess Who “American Woman” for the popular choice, or my pick, “No Sugar Tonight.” Or for novelty, Five Man Electrical Band “Signs” (Sign says long haired freaky people need not apply). Anthony could do Tal Bachman “She’s So High,” or Corey Hart “Never Surrender” (Granted, I don’t know your selection, so it might be more fitting. Truth is I don’t much care what Anthony sings. And for some reason I think he already did “Never Surrender” this season). Anwar - For bonus points as being doubly Canadian, Rufus Wainwright’s arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” I can’t think of a thing for Vonzell (whom I like as a singer, it’s just she’s not at all my style) or Scott (who I can just ignore). I’ll agree with your Scott choice having nothing better, and hope we’re both missing something great for Vonzell. It seems a shame for us both to outright ignore Joni Mitchell, but there’s just not enough women left, and my Carrie list is already packed. I predict a new game to make these threads even longer. The “Dream Theme” songs. ---

HI Lib! Me, too, for the record. I did notice last night that she was very mechanical in her dancing and moving around on stage. I missed the show last night, which is a shame, because I like disco. All I caught was a glimpse of Constantine and his eyeliner. I like eyeliner on men just fine, only I don’t think Connie did a very good job applying it. I give him extra points for the white blazer/black shirt. You know, the night he gets voted off may be the night I quit watching. He’s not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the rest of them put me to sleep (except Scott, who gives me cramps.) ---
