I actually like David Cook now, too. He’s dead on. Absolutely the unpredictable thing to do was to do the song straight. No, he wasn’t that great, but the kid’s got balls. And he seems to respect ALW even though it’s not his usual fare. But psst, the word you wanted is definitive, not definable. ---

It would have been so cool if they’d went back to the first few seasons method of having the guests judges actually judge instead of just coach and promote themselves. I’d have loved to hear ALW’s comments off the cuff instead of what he had all night to come up with. ---

[/QUOTE] They changed it because the guests would rather mentor than judge, mainly because they’re concerned about image. They don’t want to be seen as jerks. They were rarely that good as judges anyway, though a few were good (Kenny Loggins, for example.) ---

I believe being a baron trumps being a knight. So he’d properly be Lord Andrew, not Sir Andrew. ETA: Yes, what was with Clay’s long straight blond hair? That was ghastly! I thought at first he’d grown it for the stage, but then they showed his stage wig. ---

Well, that’s what I thought, too, but on stage he wears a wig with shoulder length curls. His own hair isn’t that long, and it’s a hideous mustardy yellow fake hideous blond. Ugg and lee for sure! ---

Jason is the most unshakeable contestant. He always seems amused by the whole thing and not terribly worried. I think it’s because he’s a bit high, but maybe he’s just easy going. Either way, it makes me like him. ETA: Feels like I’m kind of monopolizing the discussion tonight. Sorry folks. ---
