Well, it is the singer’s take on inspirational, so that is a weird spin… I wasn’t too impressed with that performance by Chris, but Randy was… I like that American Idol is pairing up with charities! ---

Melinda looks cute, but this song does nothing for me. It doesn’t help that the only lyric I’ve been able to make out goes “… in this world we’re living in …” _Attention, songwriters: Mind your prepositions! Or I’m going to summon Sister Adelaida from the afterlife and sic her I.H.M. butt on you._ ---

Very good performance by Melinda, but I didn’t see the inspirational in it… And I like Simon’s comment. 😉 ---

Was Melinda that good? I hated the song so much I guess I phased out, and didn’t realize it until it was over. ---

This goes to show how much I love Melinda: I HATED that song from the moment it began, but enjoyed her performance just the same. She made me believe she believed in it, and I respect her for that. ---

Blake is doing John Lennon. Ouch. He missed that high note pretty badly. He got it in the second verse, but this whole performance sounds a little labored for him. He got through it, I guess. Not his best. ---

Color me mightily surprised that Blake chose the lines of Imagine with no heaven/no hell and no religion. Well, I guess there’s only one more option, but you know what I mean. I hope. ---

“Imagine”… I hope that Blake doesn’t mess this song up… This song I really find inspirational unlike the others… It is actually a very good interpretation… I liked it! Let’s see what the judges say… Hmm… the problem of performing a well-known song. Simon said it well… ---

I thought Blake’s performance was quite beautiful, actually. His voice had a tone I found mesmerizing. His performance was simple, true, but a good kind of simple. And I’m glad someone did a song that at its heart is subersively anti-glurge. On preview: Exactly, **LilyoftheValley**. I don’t want to start a debate on religion or offend any posters’ beliefs, but it was refreshing to hear something that wasn’t so faith-based. ---

I’m not liking this performance by Lakisha… although it is inspirational, being a gospel song. I wonder what will Simon said, since he already (last season?) blasted someone for singing that kind of song… ---

I think LaKisha’s voice was very well-suited for this song. I’ve never heard the original, but I think this was a good performance. I loved her dress, too: Figure-flattering and classy. ---
