Way too low of a register for Brooke. It sounded better at the end, then ended oddly, like the band all just decided to quit in the middle of the song at the same time. ---

I feel like I am in a weird Opposite World with Jason. When other people like him, I’m sometimes meh, like tonight. And when other people loathe him and want him to go home (like “If I Fell” and “Memory”) I absolutely love him. I didn’t like the song David Cook did until it got to the chorus. Until then it was a three-note wonder. ---

Well, I don’t think Neil Diamond is that bad a songwriter, so I guess I’ll have out with that confession right off. Not my favorite or anything, but he knows what he’s doing. OK, Jason’s best performance in weeks, I think, and Dave Cook did great too. Brooke, not so much. Overall, they’re doing more with Diamond than I thought they would because, while I respect the Neil, I think, it’s hard to “interpret” a Neil Diamond song. David A just started… he’s breathing into the mike too much. ---

David A doesn’t have any guts in his voice; he’s too breathy and wispy for Diamond. Diamond songs need an edge, and David A doesn’t have any edges. ---

I think it possible that the contestants did a practice round before the live round, which is why Paula got confused. Either that or she’s drunk. ---

Wow, totally concur with Mama Tiger… Paula is wonked tonight. Completely agreed with Simon, thought I wish they would do the feedback right after the songs. I love Neil Young and all, but this just doesn’t seem like a good fit. I wish they would incorporate a “perform your own song that you wrote” night. I know it’s not going to happen, but still… to dream, to dream. Brooke was hideous tonight… poor girl, I think she may be done for. ---

I’m pretty sure I’m going to be alone here, but I swear that tonight Syesha reminds me so much of Kathryn McPhee. The hair, the giant grin, the song choice… Not sure I can put my finger on it exactly, but that’s what I see. ---
