I bet Siobhan does “Come Together,” and Casey does “Get Back,” although I’d rather not hear either one (like the songs, but they’ve been covered a lot and I don’t find them terribly interesting as re-treads; plus I’ve come to loathe the Aersomithation of the former). If they could just stay away from the more obvious ballads AND the obvious “rocker” songs, and pick some lovely singable songs like “We Can Work It Out” and “I’m Looking Through You” I’ll be happy. Those are good guitar songs, too. ---

Song spoilers: [spoiler]Crystal Bowersox tweeted that she’s got a cold this week… Aaron Kelly – Long and Winding Road – Very bland. Katie Stevens – Let it Be – Good live Andrew Garcia – Can’t Buy Me Love – Wasn’t as good as last week–standing with the guitar, changed it up just a little bit. Mike Lynche – Eleanor Rigby – Orchestra on the floor with him–soulful vibe Crystal Bowersox – Come Together – Played guitar, A horn-player on stage with her Tim Urban – All My Loving – Played guitar Casey James – Jealous Guy – Played guitar – No band – with cello very acoustic… Siobhan Magnus – Across the Universe – Sang it straight, no big note. Piano player on stage, sat on a stool. Wild outfit Lee Dewyze – Hey Jude – Guy with Bagpipes dressed in a kilt.[/spoiler] Potential winners this week are Big Mike, Siobhan (I was HOPING she’d do that one) and Lee. Crystal has an interesting pick, not sure how that would work with her voice–I was picturing Lee would do that one, but I think his voice would work on lots of Beatles songs. ---

Simon has no idea what country is. Kara should never, ever, sing on the show. It’s so unprofessional. I didn’t think Katie was any different than always. It’s always high school talent show for me. ---

No, Katie definitely sounded way better to me. I was looking for this thread and found myself absently bopping my head along to her! Aaron… well, not so much with the improvement thing. I agree with whichever judge said he has a beautiful sounding voice, he just hasn’t grown into it and learned enough to do with it yet. Boring. ---

Now, see, Andrew missed a perfect opportunity there. He’s been hit on the no personality coming across onstage thing, he’s got to start engaging more. He stood there like a polite robot during the judging and Kara says “I just wanted to see more, Andrew” Great time to grab the collar and undo a button or two, along with a suggestive wink, possibly a comedic leer. Shutting up the judges would have been more memorable for him than his performance. Oh, and he shouldn’t wear bright yellow button down shirts with each and every last button fastened. Matter of fact, no one should really. ---

I’ve often thought the same thing. I’d go solo accoustic or (in some cases) play electric with only drums and bass in the back (even then I’d be worried that the rhythm section would sabotage me). This band has never done anyone any favors, and the band is one of the main reasons that no one can ever sound hip or “current,” because they’ve got this fucking lousy wedding band behind them all the time. ---

The next 3 weeks will determine in what order Katie, Andrew and AAron will go. I think Katie should get 2 more weeks. So Andrew had fun doing it. I didn’t have fun listening to it. ---

The band is gutless; I assume they are all skilled musicians but just aren’t supposed to stand out so they take a muzakky approach to everything.
