Mike sounds very nasal tonight. Doesn’t matter though, he’s doomed with this song choice. Any long time fans are going to be comparing him with David Cook killing this song two years ago. ---

Hmm. I see that Casey is playing a Lennon solo song (and not a hackneyed selection either). I guess it must not be Lennon-Mccartney, but just either/or (or both) as songwriters. ---

I don’t hate it, but I don’t find it an interesting song to cover. It’s a particularly weird choice for her; I expected Siobhan to do it. Michael’s song was interesting but I would never choose to listen to it. I don’t know how bombastic musical theater makes it “current,” either. Edit: Simon said what I just wrote. ---

Since people can do solo Lennon numbers, I wish someone had done “Woman.” That’s one of the prettiest songs ever written. ---

Everybody loves everybody this season, don’t they? What a shock. I’d like to put some sodium pentohol in these kids and hear what they really think. I predicted “Hey Jude” because I thought even Rowsbower wouldn’t do something THIS hackneyed. I really wish somebody would call this chick on her laziness. She’s going to fucking win, and she should win, but it bugs me that they never call her on her crap. ---

Well, damn. I thought Come Together was a horrid choice, because it has been done so many times, but…I really liked Crystal. She is a total performer; the only one who has kept my attention tonight. ---

Wrong song for Michael - I like his voice, and I like his style, but he’s a Luther Vandross-style singer, not a pop singer. And yes, that definitely suffered in comparison with David Cook’s version. ---

She was pleasant to listen to. I liked her guitar tonight and would have liked a better mix to hear it (not saying she was Eric Claption, just that it sounded good.) I think it’s obvious that Crystal will always be fine; she’s not likely to have a Megan Joy/Rockin’ Robbin disastrous performance. ---

She’s always going to be technically sharp, she’s never going to be off key or hit a bad note. She’s not interesting or original as a performer, but she’s a highly competent busker. What happens to her career will depend on whether she can write, and whether she’ll be allowed to do her own originals instead of the usual, plastic, 19 Entertainment swill. If she can write anything engaging, she has the technical chops and poise to hit it pretty big in the Sheryl Crow/Alanis type of mode. If all she can do is busk classic rock songs, she’ll be quickly forgotten. ---

TUrban somehow made his hair more helmet like. :eek: Swing and a miss, he says “I chose this because it’s upbeat and I can smile” and then slowed it down, wtf? I dug all the other contestants giving him praise for his smiles as a dig at the judges. ---

I stand corrected; Tim did pick a good song for Tim. You can practically hear the twelve year olds screaming. He may have been the best tonight, especially judged by expectations and saving himself for the week. ---

If that Tim song came on my radio, I would break my finger changing stations. Chrystal was the only decent performance today. Tim can go straight to the bottom 3 and make it a foursome. They are a buffer that will keep the rest safe for the next month.
