Is it two nights this week, or three, or one hour tonight and two hours tomorrow…? All I know for sure is that it’s Idol Gives Back, Glurges, and Inspiratizes Week. ---

According to my PVR, tonight is a regular competition night, with the theme being ‘inspirational songs’. Tomorrow is Idol Gives Back, then a regular elimination night on Thursday. When I saw "inspirational songs’ as the theme, my first thought was ‘yuck’. But then I thought about it some more, and there could be some interesting choices. And of course, Kristy finally gets to sing ‘Amazing Grace’… (-: ---

Cook doing Aerosmith. Isn’t “Dream On” more cynical than inspirational? That falsetto misssed by a mile. Steven Tyler is one of those vocalists that you should avoid setting yourself up for comparisons too. ---

The problem the Aussie has, I think, is that he just doesn’t have a strong voice. It doesn’t matter what he sings, he’s just never going to nail it. I liked Syesha, but when she hit the high note, my cat jumped off the coach, ran under the table and looked at me as if to say “WTF was THAT?” ---

He said it it was some Hawaiian guy’s arrangement. Weren’t the lyrics all messed up, though? I realize they chop the songs to hell and back, but nothing rhymed. Bugged the crap out of me. And I like Jason! ---

If you told me before this season that someone would sing while playing the ukelele on AI, I would never have believed you. Simon thinks this is “the version from the internet”? I could not drive my car 15 minutes without hearing that song on the radio about 2 years ago. ---

I love the ukulele version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and I think Castro did it justice. He sped it up just a touch too much, but it really is my favorite version of that song. ---

I think Castro has the most realized personal style of any of the contestants. He knows who he is as a performer. He doesn’t overreach. Randy always says “you did your thing,” but with Castro, he really does just “do his thing.” ---

It’s about time somebody pulled out the Arlen & Harburg! That’s one of my favorite songs. It’s not an original arrangement… it’s by [this guy](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Kamakawiwo'ole) . (JC did credit him). The original cover (heh) was actually a medley of “Over the Rainbow” and “It’s a Wonderful World.” It’s beautiful. ---
