Did they say who got the most votes this week? Just curious. Not sure if they do that in the semis, or what – I forget what they’ve done before. ---

[/QUOTE] Yes, they do not mention who got the most votes until the final 3, when it’s obvious. Awhile after season 2, it was revealed that Clay Aiken had the most votes every week until the finale, when he barely lost to Ruben Studdard. It’s best not to reveal the top vote getter, as not to influence the voting in the next week. ---

Step 1: Tell the five or six favorites to sit down Step 2: Throw four darts at random into the crowd of the rest Step 3: You are guaranteed to hit someone who needed to go home. Best moment of the night: The security-robot-stare-of-death that Chris Sligh gave Ryan Seacrest as he entered, rather than whooping and clapping like I’m sure they were instructed to do. ---

They tossed the best vocalist among the guys, just because he’s funny looking and does 70s prom songs. Too bad; I’d like to have seen him improve as the challenges mount. And the worst female vocalists remain as well. ---

Okay; I just didn’t remember what Rudy sang. Paul did a cheesy '80s song, but people sometimes get confused about decades around here. 😉 And I agree: the barefoot schtick was old as soon as he announced it. I’m here to tell you, you do **not** want to go barefoot in areas where crew members have been dragging cable around. ---

Was it just me, or was that the strangest elimination of the first girl? Six girls asked to line up, and one by one they were told they were safe and to sit back down. Then: (paraphrased) Seacrest: “Amy, could you stand up?” [Amy stands up, looking slightly bewildered] Seacrest: “Amy, you’re going home tonight. Sorry.” It looked like she had a WTF expression on her face, that matched mine. Not that she was eliminated, but that she was sort of pulled up out of the blue rather than as part of a lineup. ---

Well, I’m a little surprised that it was Nicole and not Alaina or Antonella to go, but not overly. I also think Alaina and Antonella’s days are numbered. There are still two more elimination weeks to go before our top 12 is decided. No real surprise on the guys, I guess, though I would have liked to keep Rudy around a little longer and ditch Nick instead. ---

Aw, but Nick has dimples! 😉 **McNew** , it was cold, but the randomness of the elimination process is one of the ways they keep viewers hooked, and contestants on their toes. It may not be fair, but fair doesn’t really enter into any of this. Also, not that you asked, but going down the line with the contestants and stating, “You sang this and the judges said that, and you are going…home/back to the couch” is a way to gauge the contestants’ grace under pressure. How do they react to being toyed with? Remember Bo refusing to choose a group when asked? Are they gracious towards the ones who are leaving/still in jeopardy? I remember Diana DeGarmo hopping away from John Stevens and Jon Peter Lewis without a care in the world when told she was safe. What do they act like when it’s down to two on the seal? Scott Savol was very big on praying gestures, and once when Ryan told the bottom two that they’d hear the results “…after the break,” I’d swear I heard Mikalah Gordon drop an F-bomb. These things get noticed, and often factor into the voting. ---

Nick’s also the little jerk who dropped out last year and I shall forevermore be unfairly biased against him. He could have dimples on his _dimples_ and I still wouldn’t think it was cute. 😛 ---
