Allison sounds good. It doesn’t sound karaoke. I like how unaffected she tends to be. She never sounds calculated. Its like they just point her at the mic, tell her to sing and she sings it how she sings it. She’s only 16, but she can already sound like herself without overthinking it. ---

I have liked Allison every week. She has consistently out-performed everybody except Adam. If she is eliminated, the judges will save her. ---

I don’t really know what the judges are smoking. It might be that things just sound different in the studio; it might be that they have personal prejudices for and against contestants because they know them better; it might be notes from the producers… it might be a combination of all three. They are definitely inconsistent, though. They easily could have said Allison was “old fashioned” and Gokey was “all over the place.” And this fervor for Matt is inexplicable. ---

Really? They’re pimping Matt? I thought that was pretty ordinary. He wasn’t bad, but he was nothing special. I think they must really want to hustle Scott out the door. ---

Anyone think they told the judges to keep it short and simple? I thought that was Matt best performance thus far. ---

It’s nice that they make time for yet another commercial break after four minutes of program despite already being over time. (long one, too!) And why do they allow the judges to go on for ten minutes trying to figure out what they want to tell one contestant as if there’s no such thing as a play clock? ---

I’m going to agree with Dio. They want Scott to go and are being super nice to every other person. Probably his dog keeps pissing on the stage. I keep thinking they’ll be inexcusably harsh to Adam for a while, though, just to keep this thing looking competitive when he seems poised to run away with it. ---

Stevie Wonder of course is much better than Matt, but he surprised me. Allison is the only one who did better than him so far. Adam usually pisses me off, but a few times he’s done good. I don’t think he’ll do better than Allison, but the “judges” will probably say he did. ---

Holy shit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Simon give a standing O before. I was worried that the _Donny Darko_ version of that song would be a little too dynamically static, but, as Randy says, he worked it out. He put a little power into it, but was restrained about. Kind of Chris Isaak-ish. ---

In terms of pure talent, Adam and Allison are miles above the rest of them. I’d be very happy with that as the finale. But can you picture Adam singing the winner’s single?
