But then, the Russian, Syrian and Iranian official position was that it was terrorists who caused the gas attack, either trying to frame the Syrian government in some sort of convoluted false flag thingy or that the agents for the sarin were kept in a warehouse and magically mixed themselves together when the good workers and peasants in the Syrian airforce accidentally hit the warehouse they were stored in. :dubious:
That first “report” was from Russia. It’s likely full of shit (I only included it to give you the full spectrum of responses), but even if you want to take it at face value, it doesn’t say anything about hitting a town. It says “the points of impact of the other 36 cruise missiles remain unknown.”
ETA: and the second report says “At least seven Syrian soldiers were killed and nine wounded in the airstrike, the country’s military said. The governor of Homs province said he did not believe the strikes caused a large number of “human casualties.”” Where are you getting “much more people were killed”?

Yes, I already cited the Pentagon, which I generally consider credible. This just happened last night, so they and others are still assessing the damage. Think of this time period like the first few minutes / hours after news of a school shooting or terrorist attack breaks. There’s going to be conflicting information and confusion. Over the next few days and weeks, we’ll probably get a much better picture of the actual damage caused by the strike.
ETA: but the basic outline appears to be that there were single-digit casualties and some aircraft, buildings, and equipment were destroyed. Pretty much all the sources seem to agree on that rough outline.
