Zambia is doing fairly well by Sub-Saharan African standards. He seems fairly popular and the locals seem to, you know, want a guy whose actually competent running things. ---

This drama was all wrapped up in controversy as Scott is president, but only “acting president.” Scott cannot stand for elections (It’s against their constitution) so he will soon be replaced (only a matter of time); Lungu will (most likely) be the man to replace Scott as president (which he did). However, Lungu was only the party’s SG while Scott was the party’s VP. Controversy Lungu only narrowly won the current elections, and (to add more irrelevancy towards Lungu) his presidency will only last until 2016 (Lungu only is allowed to live out Sata’s old term until a new election). ---
