An all-shortie All-Star team

No bullpen (see Kingman response).

Now for batting orders. How about

LF Tim Raines 5’8"
3B John McGraw 5’7"
2B Joe Morgan 5’7"
CF Hack Wilson 5’6"
C Yogi Berra 5’8"
1B Joe Judge, 5’8"
RF Willie Keeler 5’4"
SS Phil Rizzuto 5’6"
P Bobby Shantz 5’6"

I would probably bat Keeler 2nd. Just swap him and McGraw. Keeler was a bit better offensively and one of the best at bat control.

Did you know McGraw had a lifetime OBP of .466? (Keeler was at .388), with a better OPS than Keeler? Both great bunters, which is why I put McGraw in the #2 hole.

I didn’t realize that, what a crazy good number. But in Keeler’s favor was a .341 BA over 8591 at bats to McGraw’s 3924 AB. So Keeler was better for the long haul and it looks like Keeler’s peaks were slightly better. I mean you have 8 straight seasons of 200+ hits. Sometimes just looking at final averages is not best.

If you like WAR, Keeler is a 54.2 and McGraw a 45.7

Third-best, all time, just behind Ted and George Herman.
