For those that don’t know us, or care much, please disregard this post. We are posting this so we don’t have to explain this story 10,000 times. As those of you who are still with me know, Drain Bead and I have been “an item” for several months now. During this time, I have come to a lot of conclusions about myself and our relationship, and all of them have been overwhelmingly positive. We plan a long engagement - we’re waiting for her to finish law school - and are looking forward to a lifetime together. You may be saying, “Well, that’s great! But what the fuck is up with that ball?!?” Good question… I have known I was going to ask Libby to be my wife for some time now. Libby has known she would say “Yes” when asked. My only element of surprise was… surprise. She is visiting me this week, and we had plans to go see my beloved Knicks play the Charlotte Hornets. I arranged (in a manner which is quite inconsistant with my introverted personality you all know so well) to have the proposal be on the scoreboard and Hugo, Charlotte’s goofy mascot, to deliver said basketball with the words, “Hey Libby! Will you marry me?” on it. It was quite surreal, as I checked my pocket about a dozen times to make sure the ring she didn’t know I had was indeed on my person. And to add to the suspense, at the end of the first quarter, someone ELSE had a “Bug Gram” done that read, “Elizabeth, will you marry me!” She noticed it, and there I sat, thinking, “If they fucked this up, I’ll sue the bastards…” Instead, the coincidence allowed for us to have a good laugh, both for very different reasons. Anyway, as the third quarter began, the REAL “Bug Gram” was put into effect. Libby’s face was one of disbelief. I wish I had that face in a picture… But I was getting on my knees and presenting the ring. The crowd gave us a standing ovation. We were among a contingency of Knicks fans and one vocal New Yorker led a chant of “That’s so beautiful!” for us. As we left the game (in which the Knicks clobbered the Hornets - yay!), one young girl even asked us to pose for a snapshot. So we made it into a scrapbook! WOO! Anyway, we’re both extremely happy for the existance of the SDMB, because without it, we never would have found true happiness. We also thank AOL for dumping Cecil, because I would have _NEVER_ gotten AOL. I also want to thank all of our friends here for the wonderful support they gave us. People who know us well saw this coming, maybe long before even we did. I love Libby. And I love you guys too… but I’m only marrying her! 😃 * * * Yer pal, Satan ---

Congrats guys!! Enjoy yourselves and have tons of fun with it. I know that I am a newbie here and all, but I have been reading the board for a while before I actually posted, and you two are up on the top of my list of great peoples.
