After the mod directives I didn’t think it would to be wise to respond in the same thread, but for heaven’s sake, Uber is unavailable in far more cities than where it’s available. Not knowing anyone who uses Uber, or not knowing what Lyft is (it’s not exactly a household name) is not in any way “assbackwards technophobic”.

I disagree. The topic was Uber and Lyft. Other posters’ experience with either was the topic IMO. I don’t think that anyone was initially trying to make the case that people who use either are freakshows. But when it was vehemently pointed out that it was “normal” for other people to use those services, there were people who were equally vehement that it wasn’t “normal”.

No, the OP was not addressing people who don’t use/know of ride apps at all. She was saying that Lyft sucks and of the population of people who use ride apps, most people use Uber anyway.
It wasn’t about the normal population of the entire world. Just Uber being the more popular app.
Yes she did go off on people being ass-backwards for not knowing what the apps were but that was in reaction to Gato’s big stinking turd of a post.

Have a cite? As far as I know, Uber is everywhere, even internationally. It’s just a matter of having available drivers or not.
I mean, I live in Podunk, and we have Uber, and they drive to even tinier towns around us all the time.

Yeah, and it wasn’t even the not having heard of it part I think is ass-backwards. It’s acting like this is some bizarre newfangled whatnot that’s backwards, and launching a relentless crusade of butthurt because of it is irritatingly stupid.
It only lists 150 cities in North America. The U.S. alone has somewhere in the neighborhood of 40,000 municipalities.
Meh, I’m sticking by my dumb assertion. Uber covers over 70% of North Carolina’s population, that’s pretty great.
Each “city” has a range of coverage, though. I looked up Cleveland and the map clearly shows about 50 named cities in its coverage area. And it doesn’t even name all the cities on the map - my town and the town to our west are not named but we’re clearly covered.
