# An atheist head of state?

Yes. That has no bearing whatsoever on the OP, though.

Schröder never was head of state, but I agree with **Askance** on that matter.

He was religious I think, although perhaps not an orthodox Catholic. Even the Jacobins were Deists, not atheists.
