> _Remarkably_ easy. A few days ago we were making waffles but had no butter. I dimly remembered making butter in grade school, had some heavy cream on hand, so figured I’d give it a shot. Just ten minutes a touch of experimentation later (started in a blender, then moved to hand mixer and a couple different sized bowls), and there was awesome buttery goodness in the house–so simple!!

Sure, it’s easy, but I’ve never found homemade butter to be better than the stuff I can buy. I guess if you have access to a good dairy, it might be different.

I’ve managed to make my bruschetta incredibly unhealthy and heavenly by frying the bread in butter first until it’s brown and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, then topping with the bruschetta mixture. It’s divine.

Ah, and I see from a link to **Drain Bead’s** [food blog](http://www.eatevolved.com/) in the thread on helping stave off the hunger pangs of dieting that access to a good dairy is indeed the case.

In [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=539341) I related my experience with people who somehow don’t know the difference between butter and margarine. They are not the same thing, it’s amazing that it even needs to be said.
