I thought things were bad when I learned that the guy on the other side of the block my parents live on killed his girlfriend, dismembered her, and kept her head in his refrigerator. But he didn’t (AFAIK) consume her. This is far worse – it implies an objectification og human beings that is truly appalling. And the worst part is that this happened to/by someone you know, which makes you suspect that such activity is by no means uncommon in the world. ---

I remember hearing about this stuff a little while ago, actually. I don’t think it’s particularly new news. It’s still bizarre. And sick. But as long as it was consentual, I don’t have a moral problem with it. But remember: Cannibalism is only bizarre to us through historical accident. It is a cultural quirk that we _don’t_ routinely consume our enemies and/or revered dead.
