# An old lady got pissed at me in a bar last night.

I’ve read this thread with interest, as I seem to be a magnet for random anger. To the point that I actually avoid situations where I need to interact with strangers. My social awareness is much like a Myna bird’s singing. I can mimic the words, but have no idea what’s behind them. And so occasionally find myself dealing with an angry person with no idea why. Unless it’s empty and I can sit on an isolated stool, I avoid bars like the plague.

A recent highway refueling stop is a perfect illustration (_exact_ quotes follow).

Me: [quietly fueling truck]  
Him: “Hey, nice boat you’re pulling there.”  
Me: “Thank you Sir!”  
Him: “Well you don’t have to be an ASSHOLE about it!”  
Me: ???

I have, on several occasions I can recall, wanted to drink without interacting with others. I must give off a vibe because people usually respect my wishes. If someone ignores my body language and talks to me, “kindly allow me to drink in peace” works.
