I found [a site with some recommented config.cfg settings](http://esports.ampednews.com/?page=articles&id=3631). I also added: sv\_allowdownload “0” To my config file so that I wouldn’t have to see all the irritating/obscene sprays other people use (though not on the SDMB server). ---

Last night, **Fly** asked me if I thought SDMB would be down for a friendly 5v5 game. Sounds like they’re not really a clan any more than we are – just a bunch of friends. They would wear the [DG] tag. They’re certainly quite good: the players there last night were Fly, Eimaj, and ChubbyCox. I think this could be fun. Anyone else? We’d throw a password on the server for a short time to make it a more serious match. [SDMB] vs [DG] How’s this for a lineup: [SDMB]Modo [SDMB]Backslider [SDMB]BuckGully [SDMB]Jayrot [SDMB]SenorBeef [SDMB]Inle-Rah **I don’t think anyone should be excluded**. I just got the above list based on the top K : D ratio on the stats page. If more Dopers wanted to play, they could join as spectators and then rotate out for players experiencing a slump (ahem, like me). Anyone with any interest in this idea? #1 with a bullet, baby! Last night I decided that the bots must die. They had kicked Mske’s and my butt all over Italy in a humiliating defeat, and I wanted those digital bastards to feel my wrath. I spent a couple more games with the odd person popping in and out, but mostly just me vs bots. Eventually I figured out how to get the drop on the bots, and racked up a 40-11 kill ratio on Dust2. After that, humans seemed easy. 🙂 Though I think we need to dial them down a bit. I thought the reason for having the bots was so people would stick around longer so we could get a game going, but they’re turned up so high right now most people get frustrated and leave shortly after showing up. ---

**Buck** , you da man! I agree with your point RE the bots. They seemed like a good idea at the time, but right now, there are more bots than humans in most games. Hey, if I want to get my arse whooped by bots, I’ll just set up my own server LOL Max 🙂 ---

Well, they’re there to encourage games to form, and to alleviate a boring 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, etc. game. As far as turning them down in skill… I wanted good bots so that people couldn’t dilute the stats page through beating up on easy bots, and at their current level they seem to simulate decent players rather well, I think. Still, I may given lowering them a try. ---

So I discovered this about the stats page, I think: Some stuff, like kill and death streak, and skill, are calculated just from _new data_ updated in any particular stats update. So if I update the logs on 2/05, and then again on 2/10, the skill, kill streak, etc are just determined from that 2/05-2/10 period, not the total. Not sure why that is, and not sure how to fix it, but I did wipe the entire database and then recompile it from the log files. So, for the moment, the entire history of the server is effectively the same as the latest update, meaning overall skill, kill streak, etc. is accurate from the beginning until now. Next time I update it, that’ll be wrecked, but for the next few days I’ll leave it up, and you can look at your overall stats/skill/etc. ---

Me and Inle were playing around today… threw in 30 bots and turned on bot\_knives\_only. We were both in a dark corridor with our flashlights turned on blasting 10 bots that were slowly approaching us to stab us. We both remarked that it was like fighting zombies. So, as soon as I figure out how to put like 20+ bots on one team, let’s have an SDMB zombie huntinng night. It’s fun. ---
