Damn, sorry I wasn’t there. It would have given me great pleasure to kick (and ban) his ass. Compared to what I ended up doing last night, I would have loved to be playing CS:S. Perhaps Sunday evening? ---

Woot. I’m back. New Athlon 64 3200+, 6800 GT system going. I’m going to get 4000 frames per second. Unfortunately I managed to screw up the windows instance I was using… I ran the installed steam installer manually, and the program opened up, correctly detected that I had all the files for Hl1 and expansions, and… despite the HL2 files all being there, didn’t recognize them. So I had to redownload all that crap for no good reason - on Christmas, when a million other people were flooding valve’s servers. Oh well. Their lazy programming, their waste of bandwidth. Anyway, if we have our regular Sunday night game… well, I’ll play after sunday night football. I need to watch the pathetic contest of the battle for the worst team in the league. ---

I’d love to play, if for no other reason than the Minions of Cecil would be less likely to tell me I suck. But… what are the odds of having decent latency? I’m in Australia, on a 300kbps cable connection. Max. ---

You’ll probably get playable lag, in the 150-225 range. You’ll be at a disadvantage but it won’t totally exclude you from playing. If anyone wants to have our sunday night game, albeit late, go ahead and log on the server. I’ll keep an eye on the console and join you when I see you. From there, the game should take off. ---

I played HL2:DM today. Normally I hate the mindless frenzy of deathmatch, but the gravity gun, and the physics that accompany it, is definitely the best FPS weapon of all time. You see, ladies and gentlemen, I ripped a toilet off the wall, launched it at someone, and had it break over their face, killing them. I can’t imagine video gaming gets much better than that. We should play HL2:DM sometime. ---

Oh yeah…HL2:DM is some of the most fun you can have with a videogame. There are only two maps, but both have great places: The prison map (lockdown I think) has one big room that ends up in mass chaos with sinks and toilets being thrown all over the place. Satisfaction is braining someone with a toilet. Seriously. I have a ton of fun on the outdoor map: nothing like lobbing an explosive barrel onto the third floor and blowing someone into the street! Or finding someone who’s carrying an explosive barrel and popping a couple of rounds into it so it blows up in his face. Good times! Let’s do it sometime! (And **Senor Beef** I put that smiley up there for your benefit but after doing it I can see how easy it is to do it unintentionally! 🙂 ) ---

Anyone interested in an hl2 deathmatch game tonight, maybe around 8-9 eastern? We can lock it and make it sdmb-only because DM plays a lot better with only 3-5 people than CS does, we don’t need the pubbies. ---

I’m in Germany, so for me earlier is better. 8 eastern is midnight here, I think. That’s Ok. I couldn’t play in most of the earlier games, because they all started around 8 western. ---
