Hmm, I’m having trouble setting the server up and I have to leave soon. I’ll be back around 8… I may not have the server up until 8:30 or something. Basically, I don’t know how to launch the hl 2 dm module. When I launch the srcds.exe server program, the only option in the option box is counter-strike: source. Anyone know what I need to do to do regular HL 2 dm? ---

Their dedicated server software isn’t the most user friendly I’ve ever encountered. But I got it working now. Same server, but I locked it, so it’s just us that’ll play. Password will be “sdmb” - it should prompt you, but if it doesn’t, just type ‘password sdmb’ in the console and reconnect. ---

Ok. All set up. You should be able to find the server, connect, and have it prompt you with a password, but in case it doesn’t… enable your console through the options (check box for developer’s console under some advanced button, I think) then type “password sdmb” and then “connect 70.84.17.164” Let’s aim to get this started at 8-8:30 eastern. I probably won’t be home till 8:30. Hope to see you guys there when I get back. ---

Well, that was sort of fun. We had a 4 player game going for a while that was decent, but 2 had to go… I opened it up to the public then but left shortly after due to being tired. I’m not a DM fan in general, but I’d like to get a 4+ player SDMB game going some night, private. ---

It’s a shame there’s no counterstrike: DM… I’d rather like to be able to use the cool weapons in CS, in the context of a deathmatch. 🆒 Max. ---

Well I didn’t last too long in there. It’s fun for a bit, but I’m really not a DM fan. Of course the grav gun is about the only thing separating it from Quake. I think I’ve become a Counter-Strike snob… ---

Anyone is interested in some CS:S tonight? I’ll camp out in the server to try to attract some people. Not really much point in naming a time. I’ll probably head in there around 7-8pm PST, but it usually only takes a few to get a game going. Don’t be afraid to jump in there even if it’s empty. ---
