Ancestors that were killed in battle

My great uncle Ervin, by virtue of his 20-20 eyesight, was chosen as one of the first wave of pilot trainees for the US Air Service of the American Expeditionary Force in WWI. His plane was shot down in combat in the summer of 1918, killing him instantly.

He was a Hungarian Jew conscripted into the Hungarian Army when my father was a young boy. He got one letter from him then never heard from him again. We really don’t know what happened to him. I think my grandmother somehow got word that he had died.

I can’t believe that no one has pointed this out, but your clan is named O Dino Rider? That is the GREATEST thing I have ever heard of!

Thank you.

One g-g-grandfather died from wounds received during the Battle of Chancellorsville (1863).

My sixth great grandfather died in the British Siege of Havana in August, 1762. This would have been a battle during the Seven Years War. He was born in New London, Connecticut and was fighting for the British in a company of provincials from North America. He was 45 years old, and had already sired nine children.

One great+ uncle, flying a Wildcat from Guadalcanal, has been MIA since October, 1942.
