Was just watching _Dateline_, and some weepy ex-cop just wrote a book claiming [his father](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1559706643/qid=1050275986/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/002-5279791-9548825) killed Elizabeth Short, on the flimsiest of “evidence” (two photos in his album _sorta_ looked like her; some handwriting _sorta_ looked liked his . . .). What is it with people?!
OK, here’s my theory, soon to be a major book: Marilyn Monroe did it. Here it is, 1947, and Norma Jeane sees this dark-haired babe ready to nab all the movie roles _she_ wants: so she invites her up to her room and . . . Naturally, poor Marilyn is so guilt-ridden she takes to pills and booze in later years!
I’m ready for my contract, Mr. Knopf . . .

Why do you think that rocker adopted the name “Marilyn Manson”? He was hinting at the awful truth.
BTW, has anyone noted the irony that the only two men who paid tribute to Norma Jean Baker the person, as opposed to the star she became under an assumed name, were Mr. Coffee and a gay singer? There’s something tremendously poignant about that to me.

I’ll bet you _could_ get a JFK book out of this: Elizabeth Short tries to blackmail him and derail his budding postwar political ambitions, so old Joe Kennedy has her done away with!
Oh, and of course Marilyn Monroe went on to kill Marilyn Sheppard: “There can only be _one_ Marilyn!”

Well, I claim dibs on giving the title of **Eve** ’s novel: _Femme Fatale_! 😉
You could always write yourself into it as a minor character – one of those people that a good mystery story always introduces as a distraction from the actual killer’s identity – a celebrity biographer with a taste for obituaries – whom the detective suspects for a while thanks to the obits. thing!

Seriously though, I thought they knew more or less who did it? Some drifter who turned in a taped confession and tried to pass it off as someone else’s voice, and was also connected to the contemporary murder of a local showgirl?
But then he died in a hotel fire when he fell asleep smoking in bed.

I found a fascinating site that tells about the murder and about some of the false confessions, but it does show very graphic photos of her body, so be prepared. I am fascinated by cases like this, love Cold Case Files and Forensic Files, etc…my husband thinks I am just trying to find elements of the perfect murder so I can dispose of him…sigh. Here is the link if anyone is interested, I for one cannot wait for Eve’s book! I wasn’t convinced it was the cop’s father either, I don’t know if I was even convinced those photos were of her? Anyhoo…

I think it was actually Mrs. Coffee. Mr. Coffee gets all of the credit, but Mrs. Coffee, that lying, sadistic, jealous bitch, is the real power behind the Coffee family fortune. Mr. Coffee is just the caffine-addled front man. I’d believe that Mrs. Coffee could do in a Dahlia of any color, Black, Blue, Green, Orange or Plaid.
