Um…WHAT??? [BBC.com Story](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7050348.stm) (Well, mainly about Chris Pine, but listing the rest of the crew) Karl Urban? Like as in the guy who has played badasses in _Pathfinder, Doom, The Bourne Supremacy_ and so forth? Who played Eomer in the LotR movies? Who played Caesar in the Xena series? KARL FUCKING URBAN IS LEONARD MCCOY??? Maybe I just didn’t get enough sleep this morning, because I’m having a serious hard time wrapping my head about that one. ---

Hmmm. Wouldn’t have been my first choice. A few months back _The Plain Dealer_ film critic suggested Gary Sinise, who I think would’ve been a lot better. We’ll see… ---

Most of the casting I’m pretty _meh_ about… But **Simon fucking Pegg** as Scotty? Oh come on! I’ll admit that I’m probably the only Brit who thinks that Pegg’s as funny as a dose of the clap, but can anyone see him as Scotty? This is almost as bad as Catherine Tait in Doctor Who. Although thinking about it… Catherine Tait as a pre-op Scotty… It does have possibilities. ---

Gary Sinise would indeed be an excellent choice. He’s got both the look and the acting ability to pull this off. As for Karl Urban, he’s a movie villian, not a doctor. ---

Hell, he’s older than DeForest Kelley was during the original run of the show (the show first aired when Kelley was 46). I do wish they had picked a Southerner to pay the good doctor. Now I fear we will have to endure yet another badly-faked Southern accent brought to us by Hollywood. ---

[/QUOTE] I was watching a “Bonanza” rerun the other day in which De Forest Kelley guested, playing a doctor, ironically enough. I was struck at how much Gary Sinise resembles him. This was filmed in 1962, 4 years before “The Man Trap”. ---
