# And especially none of THIS!

I seem to remember this as being from the Three Stooges, but I’m in no way certain. (What I’d really like to find is a YouTube clip.) The set-up is someone is stating/demonstrating the rules for a fight: “None of this [slap], none of this [smack], and especially none of THIS [eye poke]!”

Does anyone know where this comes from?

There’s a gag like that in a Daffy Duck cartoon where he boxes Elmer. “None of this,” says the ref, who happens to be a duck, as he jabs Elmer in the eye. “Or this,” (gouge) “or this”, (pulls ears). Then Daffy has to make sure he has it right. “So, none of this,” (eye jab) “or this” (etc.)

More recently, the gag was used during the mud-wrestling scene in _Stripes_, as the announcer is listing the various banned moves (as, of course, the female wrestlers administer said moves to John Candy). Candy eventually does some Curly-like schtick in frustration before clobbering all the women, and this may explain the association to the Stooges, though it wouldn’t surprise me if the Stooges themselves had done the bit decades earlier.

The oldest example of that exact gag that I can think of was in a John Wayne movie called “McClintock.” Great movie, by the way.
