Maybe she had a second boyfriend who was a famous podcaster on his home planet of Tau Ceti VI at the same time she was publicly dating Chris Hardwick, but if not, she’s talking about Chris Hardwick.

I saw this today. I hope the police open an investigation into Hardwick to determine if these claims are substantiated. This is pretty terrible behavior.
As for why she didn’t leave, abusive relationships create a roller coaster of highs and lows that are psychologically addictive. You become addicted to those rare acts of kindness on the part of your abuser, and you start to think ‘if I can just keep them happy, the abuse will stop and we will only have those happy times together’. It sucks but the human mind is kindof a piece of shit.

She should name him. Let the chips fall where they may. He will have to do alot of 'splaining to somebody, and folks will be listening. I doubt either one have any kind of proof. But, who knows she may have some recordings or pix. I would take a chance, if I were she. What the worst thing than can happen? A fine? A gag order?

It seems to be the thing to do.
I’m expecting Mrs. Plant (v.2.0) to begin making up things.
I imagine that most of the accusations are valid, but some of them may be contrived, and a false accusation can destroy a person’s reputation.
I don’t have a clue who is telling the truth. I’d never heard of her, and I know Hardwick only from _The Talking Dead._

I really am curious, for all of the posters who are deeply, deeply concerned about the possibility of false accusations ruining some famous man’s career: _when has this ever happened?_ It gets postulated with such certainty: a false accusation can destroy a person’s reputation! So, like, which celebrity’s reputation was destroyed by a false accusation? There must be dozens, because some folks talk about it every single time some rich famous asshole gets run up the flagpole

I don’t think he broke any laws. He was emotionally abusive, not physically.
This is such a surprise, I would never even have imagined this from outward appearances. His closest friends apparently had no idea.
I had gone off Chris Hardwick’s king of nerds thing a while ago, after he seemed more interested in fame and marrying into an heiress’s family, it all seemed to ring a bit hollow, but I would never have believed he was abusive.
My heart goes out to Chloe for what she endured. Plus she’s going to get a barrage of undeserved crap just for talking about this, sadly.

Mrs Plant (v.2.0) lied like hell in divorce court. I expect her to lie and accuse me of abuse at any moment if she can get something out of it.

From what I read of her account, this sounds like it was a relationship between two consenting adults. He may be an asshole, but that doesn’t mean he did anything illegal, whomever “he” happens to be. I think she needs to first of all clarify about whom she is making allegations. Otherwise it’s just grandstanding.

There’s lots of really really shitty behaviour that isn’t illegal. The stuff in that story qualifies.
It’s kind of up to the two of them how they are going to play this. And it isn’t remotely an obvious conclusion that she’s grandstanding if she doesn’t follow your prescribed action.

Abused people tell their story as part of the healing process because often it’s not the abuse but the cover-up that can really screw up your life. Finally getting out of an abusive situation can leave you with a support system that was wiped out by forced isolation. Then watching another person getting into a relationship with the same person and potentially suffer the same abuse can add to the pain. Speaking out isn’t grandstanding, it’s healing.
