**State Representative Cynthia Davis of Missouri** , who recently compared U.S. liberals to the 9/11 hijackers:

> [@](#):
>
> State Representative Cynthia Davis of Missouri prefiled two bills for the next session of the Legislature that she said “reflect what people want.” One would remove the state’s requirement that all forms of contraception and their potential health effects be taught in schools, leaving the focus on abstinence. Another would require publishers that sell biology textbooks to Missouri to include at least one chapter with alternative theories to evolution.
>
> “These are common-sense, grass-roots ideas from the people I represent, and I’d be very surprised if a majority of legislators didn’t feel they were the right solutions to these problems,” Ms. Davis said.
>
> “ **It’s like when the hijackers took over those four planes on Sept. 11 and took people to a place where they didn’t want to go** ,” she added. “I think a lot of people feel that liberals have taken our country somewhere we don’t want to go. I think a lot more people realize this is our country and we’re going to take it back.”

Congratulations, Rep. Davis! By comparing the teaching of safe sex and evolution to horrific acts of terrorism, you’ve made an invaluable contribution toward the ongoing Talibanization of this great country of ours.

And in the words of our Vice President, allow me to invite you to go fuck yourself.

Fucking bitch.

When will these fundie morons realize that the understanding of gene frequency shifts in populations is not a theological question? Science is not pro=God or anti-God–it has nothing to do with God whatsoever. Relgion and science should imitate Crow T Robot and Tom Servo by playing sea lion and squirrel.

The sad thing is, when she says, “These are [dumbass, ignorant] ideas from the people I represent, and I’d be very surprised if a majority of legislators didn’t feel they were the right solutions to these problems,” I wouldn’t be surprised if she was right.

I don’t post here often enough for my opinion to mean much to any of you I suppose, but it hacks me off to no end that if I don’t buy into evolution I am automatically backward and intellectually challanged.

I am curious how many folks in this thread calling people ‘fundies’ and claiming evolution is scientifically the only solution that should be presented have done any indepth research on this topic. I’m not talking the stuff you get in high school or college, I am talking actual in depth, checking all sides of the story and verifying sources, research.

This is a theory, with all the holes and flaws and problems of any other theory, and yet for some reason its policitally incorrect to even suggest it might not be the right answer. So we shove it down our kids throats and they come out of school just like the posters here… convinved its right without even have been exposed to any of its flaws or problems. And if someone says ‘Maybe we shouldn’t be treating this as the pure gem of truth we act like it is’ they’re automtically a, how was it phrased? Ah yes. A fundie moron.

I am not saying it is right for the congresswoman to use the comparision she did. It’s idiotic to compare 9/11 to such things. I’ll even go so far as to say teaching abesinence only in public school is niave and misguided. But I am not a dumbass, moron, and ignorant just because I don’t buy into something as ridiculous as evolution.

Yes, many many many people here have done an enormous amount of research on evolution, and truly know what they’re talking about. How much have you done?

[You do not understand the definition of the word “theory” when used in scientific context.](http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=theory) **Dumbass.**

You don’t believe that the posters here have “been exposed to any of [evolution]'s flaws”. [Oh](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=262236) [yes](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=248536) [they](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=247152) [have](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=239373). **Moron.**

Evolution is not any more ridiculous than chemistry. It’s as though you believe that it is “magic” that makes bubbles when you mix baking soda with vinegar. Have fun with that and your Big Sky Daddy. **Ignorant.**

Actually, the membership of the boards contains several evolutionary biologists, and evolution v. creationism is one of the most frequently debated topics 'round here. Do a search in GD sometime. There’re about 500,000 threads on the topic, where both sides of the debate are dissected down to the minutest detail. You will probably not agree with their conclusions, but there’s absolutely no way you can claim that the evolutionists on this board are not well-informed. Most of 'em probably know more about creation “science” than you do.
