No doubt about it: **Battlefield Earth**. Bad acting, terrible cinematography, sound by three apes and a lemur, and a plot that a porn movie would be ashamed to use. The New York Times hailed it as the worst movie of the century. The only people who have ever claimed to have liked Battlefield Earth turn out to be Scientologists, who are required to like it by their religion. ---

Sticking to bigger-budget, mainstream movies (otherwise, IMHO, Ed Wood’s _Glen or Glenda?_ would win hands-down), I have to cast my vote for _Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows_. This movie sucked so bad that my favorite internet critic, [Mr. Cranky](http://www.mrcranky.com), had to add a new low score to his review scale. This new rating has been variously described as “proof that Jesus died in vain” and “a festering wound on the anus of cinema”. Really, it’s that bad. As Cranky put it in [his review](http://www.mrcranky.com/movies/blairwitch2.html): “There is no moment in this film that does not go beyond pure incompetence.” I should note also that Jabootu has just put up a review of _[Battlefield Earth](http://www.jabootu.com/be.htm)_ for all to enjoy. ---

The reasons I think “Plan 9 from Outer Space” is the worst movie ever: 1.Bela Lugosi died after only three days of filming. Ed Wood spends most of the movie running around with a cape over his face. 2.It looks like they spliced two different movies together. 3.The acting. 4.Tor Johnson and Vamirella as “actors”. 5.The special effects. They always make fun of low budget S.F. films where you can see the strings attached to the UFO’s. This is the only movie I’ve ever seen where this is really true. The worst big budget movie I ever saw was “Starship Troopers”. Whoever made that should be shot. ---

Said it before, saying it again. **Heavy Traffic** is the only movie I’ve ever seen that was so horribly, awfully, astoundingly, excrementally, egregiously, artlessly, wretchedly, unforgivably… ((gasps for breath)) …bad that I needed a shower afterwards. Ick. ---

Young Einstein had Yahoo Serious in it, it was terrible, terrible, terrible. But Manos aside, the Coleman Francis trilogy (Skydivers, Red Zone Cuba, and Beast of Yucca Flats) ranks down there in the dank. Also, Attack of the the Eye Creatures. that is not a typo, it really had two "the"s. As Joel & the Bots said, the director just didn’t care… ---

Didn’t see the whole thing, myself, but what I did see was pretty damn bad. _Mr. Wrong_ with Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Pullman was so astoundingly bad I wanted to claw my eyes out afterward. _If Lucy Fell_ with Sarah Jessica Parker was worse. And I absolutely loathed _Meet the Parents_. Those are just the ones from the last ten years or so, and I’m sure I left some out. But those three immediately spring to mind when I think of “worst movie I’ve ever seen”. ---

Only once have I ever paid for a movie ticket, and then heard the words, “No refunds.” As soon as I heard the cashier say “No refunds,” I should have taken the hint. I should have just waved good-bye to my money, and gone home. Instead, I foolishly went into the theater and watched “Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video.” This must’ve been 1979 or so. Most of the crowd consisted of “Saturday Night Live” fans like me, who thought it would be funny. Instead, it was mind-bogglingly unfunny. Stunned, sulllen silence was the norm, punctuated by an occasional shout of “this movie SUCKS!” (this would get some loud applause for a few seconds, and then we’d be back to sullen silence). I have NEVER seen a movie that bad in ANY genre, before or since. ---
