Dear Jesse, Thank you for your decades of service in that most august of bodies, the United States Senate. Allow me to be the first to say, “that was mighty white of you.” Now might be a proper time to point out that you began your career in **19** 73, rather than **18** 73, as you appear to have thought. The twenty-first century is a far different place from the 19th century to which you rightly belong. Please do not be suprised when you discover that in spite of your best efforts, black people are free, women can vote, and America has a foreign policy, of sorts. Remember, those who move quickly into retirement often suffer from dreadful soul-searching depression and sudden, agonizing death. Some retirees even feel guilt as they look back upon their body of work and realize, “I could have been more of an asshole.” Fear not, Jesse. You were without a doubt asshole enough. Might I suggest that you go back to your old profession of trashing the civil rights movement as a radio personality? I can think of no better way for you to serve America or your party.
