Sure, whenever a circumcised guy doesn’t like his penis and want’s to get uncircumcised he has “issues” with his parents or body, but when an intact guy can get circumcised without comment or being accused of mental illness. :rolleyes:

It reminds me of the time some civil defense spokesman said you could protect yourself from poison gas attacks by duct taping your doors and windows. :dubious:

Funny how a bunch of dudes are ready to get cut to prevent HIV, but won’t use protection and/or talk with their partner about it. Like getting cut is going is _really_ going to help in prevention anyway, I don’t care what the research panel says.

Fight my ignorance…can anyone summarize how exactly circumcision prevents HIV infection? I thought anyone could potentially get HIV if they had unprotected sex with an infected person, used contaminated needles, etc. How does circumcision protect against HIV infection?

The skin on the underside of the foreskin is reportedly more permeable to HIV. Some reports say the female-to-male infection reduction is somewhere in the 50-70% range. Beware that searches on the topic bring up loud anti-circumcism sites first.

I’ve also heard that where the skin folds over there are micro-fissures right at the fold that allow transmission of the virus.
