I’m your old pal **Biffy the Elephant Shrew** , and I seem to be best known around here for having a name that everyone confuses with **Bippy the Beardless** , who coincidentally registered for the SDMB the same month that I did. ---

I recognize just about all the poster names in this thread, but I have to confess that except for a very few, I don’t connect posters with posts or styles. (like **Tripler** and his little gimmick) Which means if we meet and I react with a blank look, it’s because I’m trying to remember if we ever interacted. You see, I’m old and I forget. I’m pretty sure I’m at least known, if not well known. That is, if you asked dopers “write down a list of every doper’s name you can think of”, a reasonable percentage would come up with my name. If nothing else, I’ve been posting for a long time, have a reasonable post count, have started a few relatively succesful threads, and have a distinctive username. As I see it, I have three jobs on the dope: (1) Answer questions about **Magic: The Gathering** (2) Kvetch at **Shodan** whenever he talks about “The Usual Suspects” (3) Flirt shamelessly ---

Hey! I’m **Monica** , obviously. I’m 18 years old, and I’m almost out of highschool (June 18th!). Currently, I’m in Virginia Beach, although next year, I’ll be going to school in Fredricksburg. I plan on majoring in international affairs. I’m not sure just yet what I intende on doing with that career-wise, but perhaps I’ll get an internship in the State Department next year that will help me figure that out. One of my main interests is theatre, although I got entirely too fed up with all of the drama going on in my high school theatre department. Too many people got incredibly bitchy and primadonna-ish. However that’s over now. I prefer acting, but I’m better at the tech aspect- I normally do costumes. I love reading and I love history, especially European history. I also love languages. I took Spanish for 5 years (until I ran out of Spanish classes- that’s all the school offered), and spent a month in Spain. I love it there. I would like to do a study abroad there while in college, and hopefully live there someday. I also enjoy horseback riding. I have a weakness for cute shoes. And I love good food, so consequently I cook- whenever I’m in the mood for a certain food, I make it. When I get stressed, I have a tendency to either curl up in a little ball and sleep (not the best coping mechanism), cook (you should see the kitchen when I get in one of those moods!) or write. Oh yeah, I love writing. When I get in a writing mood, I generally just let myself write- I can get some pretty good stuff occasionally, while other times what I write is crap. I have a distinct tendency towards cynicism sometimes. I’ve been posting here for awhile now, but I sometimes get the feeling that nothing I write here is truly spectacular, and goes pretty much unnoticed (and none of it leaves a lasting impression.) I’m also one of those Dopers that never ends up in one of the Doper crushes threads, another thing that makes me feel that I don’t really leave an impression. 😛 ---

As for me, I can’t say that I’ve done anything memorable or written anything outstandingly witty, so I’ve probably gone below the radar screens of most. Or all. I’m **Lsura**. I’ve been to a couple of dopefests, but none of the major ones - one in Atlanta, one in Knoxville. I used to post a lot more, while I was in grad school, but then I graduated and got a job and life just got in the way. Some will recognize my name, some won’t. Either way, it’s ok. I’ll just continue to go about my business. My purpose here? Sometimes I think it’s to be the token business librarian when questions come up. Other times I think I’m just your typical semi-lurker. No matter either way. ---

I’m **Ruby** , a middle aged white chick that works as an insurance adjuster, who’s happily married, and lives in a fair amount of anonymity here. My husband just spent 15 months of active duty in Afghanistan. While he was gone, I was almost fired by my uber insensitive boss and lots of Dopers came with offers of help. I tend to hang out in MPSIMS or IMHO because this is a place of recreation for me. I like a forum I can take my shoes off and relax. GD is way to heavy for me. ---

Hi! I’m GillianBoardman, and I think I’m a bit of a thread killer, so I don’t post much, and I apologize in advance if I kill this one. My life is insane, and it’s all my fault, but I don’t post much about it, although I did announce when my husband came to visit me for the first time in almost 2 years. Now we live together in Vancouver, but life is still crazy. I read everything except Cafe Society because I’m not with it enough to know what anybody’s talking about. I also don’t think I’m smart enough to post in any of the serious threads, which is a weird feeling for me. But you know, I like not being the smart one for a change, 'specially since I’m a slacker and don’t feel I deserved the reputation. Never been to a dopefest, but I’d love to someday. ---

'K, I’m **Portia** , currently in Novi, MI and my typical post (including this one) will likely include a fair amount of sarcasm, lame-ass humor, cynicism, passive-aggression, and a dash of fact depending on the topic. I’ve not made it to the one Dopefest I helped organize in Lansing (duh for me) and have only met one Doper thus far. I hope to meet many more, maybe at some Dopefest in the surrounding states if another local one can’t be worked up. I read faaaarrrr more than I post and have actually been a member for a few more years than is shown…My posts were lost in the WOOD as well, but to be honest - not much of a loss! 😉 I’m endlessly enthralled by this board because it’s not a bunch of people agreeing w/ each other on one topic all day long. It’s fighting and proving and trying and learning, and sometimes it’s supporting and encouraging; one could get much the vicarious lift by reading the reassurances meant for someone else in a similar situation to yours. I try to send as many folks as I can (the smart ones, anyhow) to the Boards because I believe they could benefit from it.
