The thing that makes commies worse than most tyrants is that MOST standard tyrants are content to tell (or imply to) their subjects, “Pay your taxes, obey my laws, don’t question my authority, and we should get along fine.” To use one of my favorite examples, Francisco Franco would cut your throat if you got on his Shit List, but it was pretty hard to get on his Shit List, and everybody knew what to do/not do to stay off it. Franco didn’t care if he was loved, and didn’t care what his subjects thought, so long as they obeyed.
By contrast, it was EASY to get on Stalin or Mao’s Shit List, even if you were a loyal Party man. You could get arrested for publicly supporting a policy Mao or Stalin himself had been extolling a day ago. Commie tyrants DO care what you think, and they won’t settle for your obedience. They want your soul.
