First off, let me say again how sorry I am to **Qadgop the Mercotan** for Pitting him in my thread ‘Fuck you, doctors.’ He didn’t have anything to do w/ my rant except that I knew he was a doctor; I know nothing of him personally, or of his ethics and practices. A burst of posting like this last weekend’s is not unusual for me- I only post on weekends, having jotted down my ideas for threads during the course of the week- but this weekend’s was notable b/c of a convergence of many unfortunate errors and chance occurrences, including:[ul] [li] I just happened to be starting two Pit posts, whereas in my entire time here I’ve only ever done 2 of those and only one was a real Pit post, really, and even then it wasn’t heated. So now I’m starting 2 Pit posts out of the blue (by chance, this week’s ideas included pitting these two groups) the doctor thread.[/li][li] In the doctor thread, I not only make too general statements in an over-the-top way, I also mention Qadgop just b/c I know he is a doctor on these boards. [/li][li] I reach my 1,000th post, and start a thread about it in MPSIMS, not having read the sticky, and so it’s closed down, but before the reason for why it’s closed is clear I’ve posted asking why in ATMB, which is then closed with _another_ misunderstanding ending it, leading me to start yet another thread in ATMB complaining about how closing threads works and about the misunderstanding before. This last thread is moved to the Pit- now I have 3 threads there- and now I’m under fire from users in the thread.[/li][li] I also started a thread about psychological tendencies, and I prefaced it w/ an intro explaining that I didn’t want any answers simply saying “well, people are just generally stupid” But by using such an elaborate intro, it just opened me to criticism, and the thread was moved to the Pit- #5 in the Pit- and so I was under fire again[/ul][/li] In my ‘Fuck you, doctors’ thread, my biggest mistake was pitting Qadgop- which I apologized for twice in that thread and once here- simply b/c I knew he was a doctor, and also for being so general in my pitting of all doctors and all psychologists, but really, I meant it by my frustration at their fallacies when it comes to important things, and I wasn’t alone in that thread (though the numbers were few); it was agreed by others besides **VCO3** and I that doctors do have a ways to come in this country w/ regards to prescriptions and treating things other than biological, etc. So, I’m starting a GD about that subject, and hopefully we can have an intelligent debate there about this. I started the doctor OP, in which I made a grievous error of insulting Qadgop, and also of being too general in my rant, and based on that, you begin criticizing me for the following things which I will list. But before I do, let me just point out: I don’t use ad hominem attacks on these boards, whereas so many of you do so frequently (including moderators)- not only that, but if you look at what I actually posted compared to all the insults I received, it is in no way equal. I started a thread bashing doctors (and I insulted Qadgop by mentioning him specifically), and I made technical goofs, and I have other annoying habits others brought up, but the barrage of shit (band name) I’ve received over the past few days has in no way been equal to what I’ve posted. Would you please self regulate a little bit?” So we need to talk- how can I know how many threads are too many to post in one day, given my posting routine as I describe at the beginning of this thread? I know in the forum rules it says - Do not post the same or similar messages or threads to multiple forums; multiple threads on the same topic; or an excessive number of threads on any topic within a limited period of time.\* but certainly that’s how my posting is being seen, having started 20 some OPs in one night. But the arguments saying that I should “waaaaay more thought into them when you do” doesn’t realize that most of these 20 OPs was about some important factual info, or some important venting, or some Cafe ideas I had an interest in, or some polls on issues that I needed to know b/c they were pertinent to my life- but not Mundane Pointless chit chat or such. And yes, I know for a while I’ve been overusing colored text, capitalized letters and bolding- but I was trying to get attention to important info b/c, as I stated in a thread I started recently, a lot of users don’t even read OPs and wouldn’t get it otherwise :D. But I need to stop, I know b/c it’s annoying and isn’t going to be effective much longer. Oh, and I overuse smilies, like up there ^^^, but that’s b/c I’m always trying to sound light instead of cynical. Let’s read that last line w/o the :D. I was trying to get attention to important info b/c, as I stated in a thread I started recently, a lot of users don’t even read OPs and wouldn’t get it otherwise. That just sounds condescending w/o the good-natured 😃 to soften it, and fuck knows I don’t need more of that. And yep, I’m off to read the stickys, and the forum descriptions 10 times. :smack: -“is there nothing too stupid for this maroon to post?” There are several quotes like it above, and as I’ve said, I have a reason for each one (to learn about the topic by listening to the posters, **or** , w/ the Pit, to vent on something that I’m actually angry about)- Christ, if I went to MPSIMS or the Pit right now I could link to 50, 100, 1,000 fucking posts that are 10 times as worthless, fucking shit pointless, and needless as any I’ve ever started- not to mention that so many, even veteran users, never even do a fucking search to see if their obvious fucking topics have been done before (you think you’re the first guy to think ‘hey, I wonder if any movies have sucked?’)- either that, or OPs that could have been fucking googled first. :mad: FUCK!!! My threads are on interesting topics usually- not to mention that, if it’s an obvious topic, I do searches first or use GOOGLE or WIKIPEDIA- and in those threads I listen to my responders and respond to an awful lot of them. And my Pit threads are always on topics I actually am angry about, unlike a lot of people who just post here to say ‘I’m pitting… my spoon! Fuck you, spoon!’ followed by a bunch of other waste-of-bandwith trite. So **fuck you** if you can’t realize that, and for piling on all these insults- ad hominem attacks on someone who actually posted very little and never once hurled shit at any of you (although, as I’ve apologized for, I mentioned Qadgop in my OP) or responded in the like manner- so FUCK YOU That was the first time I’ve done that back, but you deserved it for your behavior. All day you’ve been calling me an ‘inane, inebriated, incoherent’ lune or whatever- all based on one OP?!!! I think I basically became the scapegoat for the rage of scores of users. :dubious: Anyways, I ask that the mods please close those five Pit threads concerning me as soon as possible, and that we move to GD for a legitimate debate about doctors and the medicine business. ---

Thanks for consolidating all the insults so that I don’t have to read the threads in question, but really, the best thing to do it just let it go. Look, a bunch of people you’ve never met and probably never will apparently think you’re a bit of an idiot, based on your writings of the paqst few days here. On the one hand, you shouldn’t let it get to you too much. On the other, you might contemplate a for moment why a group of totally unrelated strangers might all come to the same general opinion about you. Whatever you decide about it, 5000-word epistles that simultaneously say “I’m sorry” and “Fuck you” really don’t add much value, ya know? ---

**Andrewdt85** , I just want to say that I feel your pain; the SDMB used to be the type of place where even if you pissed people off with your postings, they’d offer intelligent and creative criticism and debate, no matter how bonkers the OP. These days, even intelligent and serious OP’s like yours are invariably met with such witticisms as “Fuck you, d00d!!!11” and the like - basically all of that that you mentioned above. I don’t know what happened to this board, but it’s truly shameful. ---

As for the second part- that solves the problem of future Pit threads, but what about the problems I address above, like people not wanting me to post so many threads every weekend? That’s something I need to address- I don’t want people looking at the front page of GQ on Saturday saying ‘Damn, andrewdt85’s posts dominate the front page.’ Let’s figure this one out. ---

Andrew, I’m by no means a board veteran, and I’ve made my share of mistakes here. Everyone has. Just a wee bit of advice: Step back from the SDMB. Lurk for a few months. Let people forget about you. The biggest pet peeve of this board is an attention-whore – don’t be that guy. Come back a few months down the road and if you feel you absolutely **must** post, stop and ask yourself the following questions: [ul] [li]Will this post **really** contribute to either the fighting of ignorance in general, or my own?[/li][li]Do I **really** need to write this pitting, or is it some minor annoyance I’m working myself up over just so I can write a post?[/li][li]Am I giving other dopers ammo to use against me?[/ul][/li]And when you do finally write that post, cut the giant fonts. Cut the colored text. And please, please, for the love of God, stop using “b/c” when you mean “because” and “w/o” when you mean “without.” Personally, that really chaps my ass. If your attitude is “let’s fix stuff up”, that’s great, stick with it. Better to go this way than swap duelling "fuck you"s with everyone. With your GQ stuff, and across the board, remember that, as **Giraffe** said to you earlier, it’s give and take alike. Help other people with GQ answers with your special expertise, chat about movies with them, talk about your cats in MPSIMS. That’s what you “give” to the board in order to “take” people’s opinions and GQ expertise. Otherwise, if you’re firing off a bunch of GQs rather than waiting and going carefully through the threads you’ve got, it looks rude, like you don’t care what other people think. Consider that, perhaps. Once again, just my opinion and I don’t want to ‘junior mod’… ---
