Sorry to drag this thread back on topic, but I’d just like to add my two cents to this “debate”. It seems to me that Andrew does have some intelligence, and some of his posts are useful/interesting. But some are undeniably irritating/unreadable/pointless/downright offensive, among other things. For example, I thought the first part of this OP was a noble attempt to apologise and set right some wrongs. Remember, apologising is often the hardest thing to do, and does show a little maturity and respect for other users. Unfortunately, of course, the OP deteriorates in the second half. To an outside observer, it looks like you can make a good contribution to this board, but too often post before you think, or perhaps start something reasonable and then go off into a wild rant at the slightest provocation. This inevitably leads to a hole you can’t dig your way out of, and further unneccesary attrition. So, if you can look past my sanctimonious tone (when I’m just trying to add some balance) and take this as constructive criticism, I think you and the board would get along a lot better, and possibly still have a chance of building a mutually beneficial relationship. Since this is the Pit, everybody is of course free to offer critiques of the above in the customarily robust fashion :). ---

Honestly, I might have only been here just 3.5 years, but in the time before you came along I’ve seen some of the most amazing Pit Threads in the history of the internet. Guys like December and Collounsbury for instance. And imagine the sort of stuff that people like Furt and Guinastasia have seen? Man, your Pit Thread is a pittance. I’ve seen 10 page long trainwrecks where the Pittee fought tooth and nail with 50 people and smashed 'em all. I’ve seen other monsters where the Pittee couldn’t even be bothered writing and just carried on along their business elsewhere on the site. Aldebaran anyone? You’ve been here 14 months. Your attempt to speak on behalf of all Dopers everywhere is no less conceited than your belief that your Pit Thread has some innate centre of the universe gravitas attached to it. My gut feeling is he decided to treat your Pit Thread with the contempt it deserved. Not a nice message to hear, I’m sure, but dude… you went out of your way to Pit him. He’s allowed to respond anyway HE sees fit, not you. ---
