God I miss old Sesame Street, with the hippies & everything – remember the white dots on a black background? The cats that trash the dollhouse (“what’s that…small pitter pat…one two…two kitty cats”)? There are a few good segments on videos out there - James Taylor (with hair!) singing w/a bunch of kids, the “Ladybug Picnic” song. Oh, and my Hubby wants to know why Baby Bear’s dad sounds like a redneck. He looks like an excapee from Disney’s Jamboree. ---

One thing I’ve always wondered about Caillou… (besides where the hell they got that name from) is…are his parents siblings? Cause damn they look exactly alike! On a good note, I’ve become positively addicted to Lazy Town. I saw it when I was visiting my nieces and the next thing I know, I’ve bought the cd soundtrack and started watching it on my own. :smack: ---

Christ, I had forgotten about Dragontales. That is one seriously messed up show. That Max? Drown him. And that lil pink dragon who’s supposed to be so smart? (Cassie?)–is she channelling Cindy Brady or what? And Ort–what it he? the token let’s make fun of the learning disabled dragon or what? I’ve got Steve’s cd kicking about here. Quite good IMO. I’m a little surprised at the stuff directed at The Wiggles, but then we don’t watch them that often (Velociraptor isn’t all that interested in them, I just put on the cd my Uncle sent as music when we play from time to time). I just wonder what’s up with the Storybook Girl. She’s gotta be on something to be so god-damned perky. And c’mon, she talks to a doorbell and a clock, telling them stories. She’s not right in the head that’s for sure. ---

That’s funny!” Then again, maybe I’m reading too much into this. And as I always do in threads about kids’ shows, I just have to say again that I feel sorry for those poor Storypeople. They bust their hump day in, and day out, and they’re always overshadowed by those freaky Boobah. If it weren’t for the fact that there appears to be a detente between the Storypeople and the Boohbah (after all, the Boohbah give the Storypeople a present every episode), the Storypeople would probably be bitter. And don’t get me started on “Look What We Can Do.” If you’re going to loop footage of a kid spinning in circles, at least loop it so the kid goes a full 360 degrees before returning to the starting position. ---

SAY MAP!!! Has anyone seen Tickle U on Nick in the mornings? Their theme song makes me want to stab chopsticks into my ears. “YOKO JACKAMOtO TOTO!!” And the characters can apparently only say their names. And the monkey spits. Fortunately, it comes on right about the time I’m leaving to take the short spawn to school, so I’ve never seen an entire episode. ---

I hate Dora, but the repetition is just right for my toddler’s developmental phase at the moment, so I let her watch it while I do other stuff. I just looked it up, and evidently Caillou is bald because in the original books he was much younger, i.e., a baby. No help on the name though. One thing I’m loving is \*\*Moose A. Moose \*\* and \*\*Zee \*\* on Noggin. The new song about winter is great: Make a snowball, give it a throw If you get hit, give 'em a _quid pro quo_! 😃 I’ve only seen \*It’s a Big Big World \* one and a half times, but it cracks me up that the main character in a kid’s show is obviously a complete stoner.
