I have truly been down about this news all day. It has always mattered to me to be part of the Anglican Communion. But if we are withdrawn for the stand we have taken on this ordination, then so be it. I hope that someday the Church of England and others in the Anglican Communion, will focus on the Second Commandment and what is required of all of us. We still have a lot of that to do on this side of the pond too. I think I heard on the news that this may be a temporary withdrawal. I know there is a meeting in June. What are the chances of reunification? ---

Good for the American and Canadian Anglicans. I understand the importance of religious community, but some things need to take precedence over that, and basic human respect is about five of them. I hope there can be a reconciliation someday, too, but only if it is because the rest of the global Anglican community has finally stepped into the 21st century and discarded this ridiculous bigotry. ---

Oh, and I just got an e-mail from Calvin over at the University of Geneva, too. Some glurge about “Publish and perish”. Can’t make heads nor tails of the thing. Sometimes I think that man just talks to hear his own voice, honestly… ---

(Isn’t a good thing that Zwinglianism never caught on like Lutheranism and Calvinism – imagine if your church’s young unmarried adult group was called the Zwinglian Singles! ;)) ---

My best friend is Zwinglian, technically! 😃 I suppose this means that up until a few years ago, she was a Zwinglian Swiss Single. I, too, have chosen my ground and will make my stand. I find it appalling that, while it is a perfectly acceptable, and a good and wondrous thing that I have fallen in love with an upright and honorable man, if the only thing that were different about our relationship were that the person I was in love with was a woman, that would somehow be an abomination worthy of the worst forms of calumny and cruelty. I find it ridiculous that a different friend of mine is somehow flaunting his homosexuality or trying to impose his degenerate lifestyle on others if he keeps a photo of his partner of 11 years on his desk or speaks of his partner the way someone else might speak of his wife. I stand where I believe God has called me to stand and no one can make me do otherwise, not even an archbishop who appears sensible in other regards. Oh, and as for the bishops in Africa, they may want to look to the activities in their own houses, first. CJ ---
