My cowboy hat’s brown, we don’t roast entire cows, we just smoke the brisket & sometimes the ribs, and whatever’s made into sausage.

I don’t have a horse, nor do I have oil wells, although I know quite a few people who do own horses, and have ridden several myself. I also know a few people who either own oil wells or own shares in mineral rights where there’s drilling going on (mostly gas these days).

My ancestry, as best as I can tell, is almost equal parts German, British (English, Scottish and Welsh), and a little French thrown in.

I do own several rifles, shotguns and pistols, and no, I don’t carry any of them around with me concealed or otherwise.

I do drive a pickup truck, although it’s what’s called a mid-size, and has a V6 instead of a monstrous V8 engine.

On the other hand, I dearly love Ruddles County Ale, think the Old Green Tree in Bath is a fine pub, have had more than my share of Pimm’s, late night kebabs and chips, and have a mild thing for Lucy Pinder. I also recall the Ashvale Fish Restaurant in Aberdeen had pretty good fish, even though it’s not the typical chippy, and that the best steak in my life, bar none, was from the Marcliffe at Pitfodels in Aberdeen.

So I guess you could say that there’s no Anglo-American tension on my part!

**bump** You only have a _mild_ thing for Lucy Pinder?.

Good grief man, she’s absolutely gorgeous, I have far more than a mild thing for her 😃

Friends, brothers, fellow kind spirits. Let us not dwell on the minor differences between American Burgers and British burgers. Let us instead focus on the true evil. We should join hands and stand together to drive from the Earth those heinous Antipodeans and the heretical abomination of beet on burgers.

At your age, I would have thought you’d be happy to produce a mild thing. 😃

Now look here you young whippersnapper, I may be getting on somewhat but I assure you, you wouldn’t want my mild thing on the end of your nose as a wart.

Now, off my lawn

Well… by mild, I meant that only slightly more of a thing than I have for Keeley Hazell or on my side of the Atlantic, Aria Giovanni.

(all 3 of them rev my motor something fierce… Lucy just being foremost among them)
And… FTR, I’m almost 37. I’m sure I could still put in quite the impressive performance!

> I’ve lived in the US for 15 years now. I consider it my home in many, if not most, ways. I own a house here. My son lives here. I’m not qualified to work in the UK. I’m here for the duration as far as I can see. But much of me will always miss Britain, and many British things.
>
> What has been really pissing me off recently is what I see from both British people and American people. British people have to be snooty about everything American, and American people have to tell me everything over here beats everything in the UK. This, of course, excludes the small subset of Americans who feel the need to tell me how everything in Britain is better than everything in the US – really no better.
>
> I love things about both countries, and both countries have pretty major faults. What is the problem with recognizing the good and bad in both? There is nothing that makes you a worse American, whatever that means, by acknowledging that an English summers day, in the high 70’s, with a light breeze and no humidity, is more pleasant than a typical D.C. August day of 98 and 95% humidity…. And there is nothing un-British about saying that we don’t get anywhere near enough of the bloody things, because it is usually raining.
>
> Sometimes being Mid-Atlantic really gets my goat. I don’t like feeling torn between two competitive groups, each of which seem to me to be just making dicks of themselves.

Heck…U.S. and England are at a high point of relations. There was a long period of time where we truely despised each other.

There was a thread on here long ago about how England/U.S./Canada/NZ/Australia are almost one ‘super-country’. While this might be overstating it…I do know that I personally would be upset if Germany was invaded…or France…or Norway etc…HOWEVER…if England was invaded I would want to pick up a rifle and help defend. It would feel different somehow…like how DARE you attack them you freakin bastards…I’ll have yer guts!

Don’t let the talk get you down. England and the U.S. are like brothers (or maybe like father/son). There is going to be bickering and competition…but it is between family.

{/end sappy post} 😃

When was that long period?

Also, I figured out why Brits put vinegar on their fries. Vinegar actually tastes better than the British version of ketchup. :vomit smiley:

End of the 18th-middle of the 19th century?

But count me in as one who doesn’t really see any large amount of Anglo-phobia in the US.

Surely you don’t include France in this sweeping generalisation?!
