Real addictions? - SDMB: “My name is Veb and…” It’s the funky reality intellectual kick that infiltrated my brain. - smoking: yeah, it’s ugly, suicidal and antisocial. I can quit any time I wanna; I’ve done it 7 or 8 times now. - books, books, more books: total immersion, don’t ever wanna come out. Bliss, comfort, challenge, refuge, all of it. - critters: can’t live in a single-species world. Pretty serious addictions: - wine: I’m a grateful enthusiasist, determined not to turn into a bore or snob. Grapes, sun, time, human care and cleverness; _killer_ tradition, lore and scope for enjoyment and conviviality–what’s not to like? - food/gardens/mundane stuff: Martha Stewart is a repellent disgrace, but I _like_ growing stuff, cooking good food, taking care of folks. (My idea of home decor is so eccentric La Martha would stroke out.) Veb ---

My addictions would be as follows: \*coffee \*the internet, particularly the SDMB \*Indian food (as in India, not as in those people who were here first!) \*(please don’t laugh) Babylon 5 (as of about a month ago, YAY for weeknight reruns!) \*animal companionship \*books \*wintergreen Life Savers There are probably more, but these are all I can come up with right now. ---

addictions? Rasa I’m addicted to hedonism that’s it. of course there’s quite a bit that’s involved in being addicted to hedonism. It’s a very big addiction. ---

My addictions are many and wide ranging and include: [list] [li]Tea[/li][li]Dr. Pepper[/li][li]Breathing (I tried to give that one up once, but I passed out and hit my head on the coffe table. The doctors say I might have brain damage :))[/li][li]Posting while drunk[/li][li]Terry Pratchet Novels[/li][li]The Tragically Hip[/li][li]Napping[/li] I could go one, but I think I’ll stop now. My mutt needs a walk. And now for something completely different… A slight hijack, but this happens to be my 200th post. I know you can hardly contain yourselves. well simmer down now. I have a question. I read in another thread that the reward for 2000 posts is hot monkey sex. Does this mean for 200 I receive a hot monkey?. Just curious. Coldy, I’d haveta say I’m addicted to Beer, in the best sorta way. It’s just too goddamn tasty! I also am addicted to Earl Grey tea in the morning; hasta be with a pinch of salt, maple syrup, and heavy cream. And, anything with the pear, or artichoke flavor. Is there a Minister of Pears and Artichokes? Or one or t’other? Avocadoes too. I’m salivatingly at yer service, Mighty Doob Overlord… ---

Hmm looks like we have a number of people who are addicted to pot, a lot to chocolate, many to tobacco. That’s it, to help add to these addictions, I move to request that President dpr allow me several hundred square miles to devote to pot farming, cocolate plantations, and tobacco plantations. Right now, I’m pretty addicted to my **Special Project** …it just keeps getting bigger and more elaborate. I think I shall experience serious withdrawal once it’s over & I have to find something else to do. Other addictions: E-mail Coffee Hot Sauce But I did sucessfully fight and win my addiction to Gameboy Pokemon. And so far I’ve fought off the urge to order the Gold or Silver addiction. I know this is the addiction thread, but I’m sure even you addicts can be proud of me for that! ---
