Our street consists of 21 houses on a cul de sac where all the houses are close together. Annoying Neighbors consist of a father, 2 daughters and 1 son. All of the kids are adults (the son is 20, the girls are mid 20s). To their left is a family with one small child (age 5). To their right is an older couple - second marriage for both of them. The mother died - 8 or 9 years ago now. The father lets them run wild - loud parties which annoy the whole neighborhood, and lately those parties have tended to involve people outside screaming profanities and fighting. The father has loudly pronounced his neighbor’s wife (the older couple) as a whore because she moved in shortly before actually marrying the neighbor - and though they’ve been married for some years now, evidently once a whore, always a whore. This is presumably an artifact of his Muslim faith (his statement that the neighbor is a whore is the only reason I mention it). Apparently it’s Ok to have loud parties involving lowlives who scream profanities, fight, and assault neighbors, but NOT ok to be a peaceful, likeable whore. They put the house on the market a year ago, including moving out for several months. Evidently they couldn’t sell it (despite the housing market generally being pretty decent here). Gossip from the realtor to another neighbor suggest they were being extraordinarily difficult about any offers presented. So they moved back in, put the place on the market, and after 6 months it STILL has not sold. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that they are always around, with cars piled up in the garage, driveway and street. Nah, couldn’t be that… It’s hard to believe they can’t sell the place for enough money to satisfy them. They’re original owners of a house built 20 years ago. The house would sell for well over twice their purchase price. We’re talking a profit of well over 300K, possibly 4 or 5K. ---

…they try getting a statement from the likeable whore, and the pool guy arrives. Then the pizza delivery guy shows up, and the party moves to her place. ---

I suppose the rest of the cul de sac can form a corporation, pass the hat, and buy the house from the nasty neighbors. Then fix the house up, sell it, unpass the hat (so to speak), and dissolve the corporation. Or whatever the legal hoops are they’d have to leap through. ---

I live on a cul de sac myself. I counted. Small houses. There are eight. (And I mean small for a cheap ass Texas suburb. Huge if these were in SF or NY.) But small houses. WTH. Apartments/condos/townhomes are different though. ---

I don’t think there’ve been arrests yet, as the misbehavers get gone in a hurry. Re the neighborhood banding together to buy the place: it’s actually been suggested, semi-jokingly - buy it, tear it down, and turn it into guest parking!! That would take every household coming up with 35K, however, and I don’t personally have quite that much under the sofa cushion. My current plan is to win Powerball and buy the place myself - it’s a similar layout to ours, but nicer in many ways (larger rooms, full walkout basement). The lottery people are being stunningly uncooperative, unfortunately. ---

I heard fireworks going off every 5 min all night long on Labor Day. Some of my neighbors are jerks… but they were literally SO LOUD, even the fire station 2 blocks away must have heard them. Me calling just clogs the cops phone lines. ---

Is it just because I grew up in Philadelphia in the 80s… I see a Thread title about “Annoying neighbors” with “MOVE” spelled in all caps and my first thought for a solution to the problem is that **Mama Zappa** should call Mayor Goode and ask him to firebomb the place. ---

That’s right. The noise does not, generally, disturb us. It does disturb the houses closer to them. Is it wrong of me to be annoyed that they are causing issues for my neighbors and friends? (well, except for the whore, I’m sure she deserves it). There are a lot of young children in the neighborhood, who like to play outside and maybe even ride their bikes. I wouldn’t want my 5 year old hearing that kind of language or seeing his father get assaulted, would you? Those same 5 year olds might like to be able to sleep at night without that kind of noise. And, the lineup of cars in front of their house on a good day… there is _no_ street parking on our street - everything is a fire lane. We all have 2-car garages and space to park two or more cars in our driveways. Arguably not their fault that the neighborhood is badly designed, and everyone is pretty tolerant of each other’s occasional semi-legal street parking. BUT, they are not using the garage for cars, their house is the first one you come to when you turn onto our street (imagine a T, where you drive in from the bottom of the T then go right or left. If you went straight, you’d be in their front hallway. Their cars impede access to the entire neighborhood (including us), they block immediate neighbors’ access to their own driveways by making it tough to exit safely, and they would make it tough for a fire truck to get in. ---

And you’re living in a neighborhood of $700k+ houses, according to the information you’ve given. You’ve already won life. A bizarrely inconsequential thing to get worked up about. ---

Including neighbors who frequently cause the police to come into our neighborhood. That is a thing with consequences. ---
