I don’t have first-hand knowledge of this, but I think it would not be considered unethical to do so, if the semen were freely given. 😛 Roddy ---

The avoidance of animal products is usually a desire not to contribute to the suffering of animals who are necessary for the production of those things, and are not complicit. I would say this falls well outside that. ---

Vegans may be vegans out of health concerns, or due to ethical concerns over the treatment and/or killing of animals. They might hesitate, for example, if it were factory farmed. ---

I know that is a component of it, but I have always found Veganism to be a health-and-diet thing, heavily based on the notion that eating meat is really bad for you. The animal-rights aspect is involved, but personal health and nutrition is really the core value. (Just did some Googling, and found heavy emphasis on both points.) ---

As a vegan, there is definitely a health component, but I don’t personally know any vegans who do it just for health benefits and not also for animal welfare issues. YMMV. ---
