Another conspiracy theory: "dirty electricity"

I’m fairly certain that if you look hard enough on the internet, you’ll find a report named “The Seven Secrets They Don’t Want You To Know About Dirty Electricity”. The report is a $249.97 USD value, but for a limited time, it’s probably available for $49.97. So if you jump on this right now, you’ll save 2 bills.

It comes down to where in the system it is. The problem with so many HiFi setups is the mess of cables behind all the gear, with a mix of low level signal cables and power cables, often not exactly well differentiated. Running a power cord that is carrying a lot of switching hash next to your signal cables is a good way to get the noise into the input stages. Most systems rely upon a differential pair input stage to effect the input buffers or in the case of power amplifiers, the global feedback. Common mode noise in a differential pair is, in theory, cancelled out, but high frequency energy starts to nullify the design assumptions, and things can start degrade, not always in an obvious manner.

Inside a bit of gear one hopes that the additional stages of power filtering and physical layout of components will avoid too much hash coupling. External power cords and cables provides a backdoor mechanism.

Yes, but as in the UK the pollutants get largely removed.

The first ‘hit’ when I Googled, “The Seven Secrets They Don’t Want You To Know About Dirty Electricity”. was… you guessed it. (Or you should have.) :dubious:

This thread. (More precisely, Ranger Jeff’s post.) :stuck_out_tongue:

His radio can pick up a carrier with very very low energy in it.

He is detecting a tiny amount of energy, and that level can’t hurt him.

Its far far less than the energy level of cell phones transmitting.

The radio cannot pick up the frequency of the cell phone transmissions…So he certainly can’t use a radio to measure the power of cell phone transmissions…
His radio is only picking up the side noise. It is very very misleading … he very misguided in thinking that he can measure energy levels using a radio…

Neither AM nor FM encoded volume in the power of the transmission… So the de-modulator is NOT measuring power !
