Shoot, I almost nearly missed those (I’ve been skipping past all of y’alls technospeak) – how gorgeous! Love the beaches and your flowers.

Thanks, fessie!

I don’t think so. Really. They don’t go into the depth that DPReview does, however they do have more reviews. I usually go to several sites and don’t restrict myself to just one of the review type sites. Sometimes the reviewer will really foul up the review of an otherwise decent item and you’ll have 6 other sites praising the same item.

But what about the camera? That’s what I meant.
I’m leaning very hard toward the Sony…
Well, most things I’d have wanted to say have already been said, so I’ll just jump onto the shameless self-promotion bandwagon.
You can see some of my photographs here (desperately in need of a proper clean-up and re-organisation):

More beautiful work - I’m so impressed! Love that portrait that isn’t there.

Can I ask you photographers something — what training do you have? Did you take art classes, drawing classes, photography classes?
Well, I’m obviously no pro, but I’m told I have a good eye. I took art in school, but mostly I developed my eye for photography by practice (throwing a way a lot of BAD shots) and reading stuff about composition, etc. Two books I have are Digital Photography for Dummies, and the National Geographic Field Photographer’s Guide (I think that’s what it’s called.)
I can’t paint or draw to save my life. Here, I’ll prove it. Here’s some pictures I did on 4x4 ceramic tiles, to give as Christmas gifts one year. They all had MAJOR sentimental reasoning behind them, so they were appreciated in spite of the lack of skill with which they were executed. (You’ll have to log in with rhorus @ hotmail.com and password trouble9 to view them.)

I think the password’s just trouble.

Does it matter to you that it doesn’t support SD cards? That was on your original requirements.
Frankly, I don’t think memory cards are important enough to make a choice on.

Wow, those are amazing svrider! The clarity and saturation is gorgeous. Like buttah.

Thanks ![]()
As for training, I havn’t had any. Actually I wouldn’t even begin to describe myself as artistic, I have however read a lot about photography. I think basicly I just really like taking photographs ![]()

I decided you were right, and it doesn’t matter. ![]()
OMIGODOMIGOD I bought the Sony.
Wheeeee! Unfortunately, they’re having to ship it to me, as they were out in the store. But I’ve got the lense, a card, a case, a spare battery and a uv filter in hand as we speak. Or type. Well, not literally in my hands, or I wouldn’t be typing.
Thanks for all your input wonderful Doper photographers!
